What surprised me about the sale of the painting is that its provenance is so sketchy. Everything indicates that it was not just repaired but that it's practically a new painting atop of a sketch! At least to my mind, it's the least impressive of all the known Da Vinci paintings. Obviously some people who are supposed to know better had a different opinion. If it turns out that they are screwed, then we can all have a good laugh. |

Really the only animosity that I have towards the buyer is that of jelousy.I have one
oil painting that I traded work for.It was in a rent house and the owner was going to trash
it.I couldn't hang it until the kids were grown,that should give you some idea of the
subject content.While it is tasteful it is adult in nature.But I digress,the artist is
an unknown college student and where I like and appreciate their work,others would
probably keep it hidden.I have a great appreciation for artist,the only thing I can draw
is flies.

I'm curious as to whether they'll send the painting out on tour to recover some of its cost, put it in a museum to reap tax benefits, or stick it in a bank vault like so many of these syndicate bought art works? In any case, Christie's proves once again that they are the best hypemen in the world. I wonder if they are behind Blake Shelton being picked as the world's sexiest man? |
