Hi, I'm a 33 year old urban planner who just got back into pipes last year. My first experience was with Royal Yacht when I was 17 and it throughly kicked my arse. I picked up the hobby again at 23 smoking the John Middleton OTC blends (mostly London Dock, Vermont Maple, and Kentucky Club) that were popular in Mexico at the time. I'm joing the forum in the hopes of learning more about the hobby and make new friends. I returned to pipe tobacco in order to taste Syrian latakia only to find myself exploring a bunch of other mixtures. At the moment my favorite is SG Skiff Mixture. I'm impressed by the level of discourse I've read in several of the threads on this forum and hope to contribute what ever I can.

Welcome to the forum, I can imagine that Mexico is like many other countries when it comes to tobacco choices, few choices and high prices? Here are a few carvers in Mexico: pipaselo.blogspot.com/?m=1And I hear that Roberto Gonzalez makes nice pipes. He can be found on this board: formosapipaclub.com

Mexico, as a country, is much more cigar friendly than pipe friendly for sure. Prices for OTC blends are similar to what you pay from e-retailers but variety is very limited (There is a selection from Lane Ltd and not much else). From what I've heard, our tobacco taxes are no where near what you'd find in the EU or most of the USA.

Taxes can vary from state to state here.... in California, New York, Washington, and others that are progressively governed, the taxes are draconian. Not so much elsewhere.
Glad to hear that the Canadian/EU tobacco tyrants haven’t infested your legislature.
