Following up the thread on podcasts that would appeal to pipe smokers, I was wondering what podcasts you folks like to listen to.
I'm about two years behind on Welcome to Nightvale and a week behind on The EvilTwin Podcast. Both are somewhat satirical, although the EvilTwin has serious moments and doesn't completely stray from the factual. Each episode covers a theme, usually a religion or social organization that has received a bad rep over the years (Mormons, Scientology, Freemasons, etc). Some of it is very critical, outright lambasting, but other episodes they're view is much more enthusiastically supportive while others still are just, "well, that was weird."
Welcome to Nightvale, for the uninitiated, is fictional broadcast from the town of Nightvale where strange happenings occur as a part of regular life for its citizens. Welcome to Nighvale has both a serialized storyline and a episodic stories. Each episode features a lot of unknown or underground music in their weather section. I highly recommend it if you're like the idea of Roswell-esque story played out to its most absurd conclusions.

Joe Rogan Experience Church of What's Happening Now with Joey Diaz The Duncan Trussel Family Hour Your Mom's House (Tom Segura & Christina P.)
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History This American Life RadioLab
Those are the main ones, but I listen to a lot of other ones like WTF with Marc Maron from time to time as well. The first group is all comedians and the second grouping are all more of an educational bent and more serious.
I used to listen to Howard Stern on talk radio, then on Sirius for a few years. I'd listen to talk radio more than watch TV, so this podcasting "trend" is great for me. I cut the cable last year as well as far as TV goes. I feel more informed on the stuff I care about and can't say I miss much. Podcasts easily fill the void and then some. I think they're great and the talent can mostly say what they like with no corporate agenda or oversight.
I was meaning to checkout Nightvale. Sounds pretty interesting. I used to like to listen to a lot of conspiracy stuff like Coast2Coast, for entertainment.

99% invisible...starting from a design standpoint but goes all different directions.
Criminal...diverse as well, much more than a true crime show with lots of historical and social stuff.

Regularl I listen to several of the podcasts on The Ringer, all the Foreign Policy ones, and sometimes the Cracked podcast. I really rather read than listen to news and opinion.

Mike Rowe has a great TED talk about his biggest take away from his Dirty Jobs show. Mike Rowe connects with most of America, and this video is spot on advice. After 6 million views, Facebook decided that it has “inappropriate content” for children” Prager U has had this happen to a lot of their content, even though it has no hate, or diabolical intent, and the facts are what drives the content. The big four tech companies want to position themselves as the gatekeepers on what we need to be allowed to hear... so when they are all for net neutrality, I go the other way.

Along these lines it always ticks me off to no end the way the majority of movies and society in general regard teachers, service workers etc... as complete losers. The video left out the part, I think it might have been the septic guy as a former counselor with a Psych degree. Rowe asked him why he had gave that up and he deadpanned that he was tired of dealing with people's sh*t all the time!
