For you lovers of whole leaf it is on sale at Whole Leaf Tobacco. Buy 3 and get 4th one free. On your order form, in the comment section just put your free tobacco request there.
Also, they now have Basma and Samsun-Maden available.

Thanks for the word. I have purchased from them twice. Fast service. Wish I knew what to do with what I bought what did you buy? I bought Turkish the first time. Not even sure what to do with it. Then I bought a pound of 1997 Lat. Here is why I am slow on things, like sending. Also why I sign up for little. Xuan is like 100 pounds. I have 7 thousand (literally) books all over the place. Just to make room sometimes I shift things. I know where the lat is, but am damned if I can see it. My movement is really limited lately. That said, at least with the lat, it's pressed. It should fit well into some tobacco by breaking and rubbing it out into a blend. I will get there eventually. The price on the lat is really good, too. It's already aged to using point. Hope this helps

From the owner of Whole Leaf Tobacco "The Basma is really good, probably the best Turkish tobacco I've ever stocked. Very smooth and more fruity than fragrant (ie. perfumy)."
I also noticed that the stuff I thought was Samsun-Maden is actually listed as just "Samsun" so buyer beware. I like Samsun-Maden but I do not like Samsun-Canik. Not sure what variety it is.

For us newbies... www.wholeleaftobacco.com/I dislike sites where I can't see the shipping price before I fill out all the BS requred. Can someone give me an idea of what shipping a pound of leaf, in the US would cost? I like Virginia tobacco. I wonder if the flue cured Virginia 'Lemon' would be a good choice for me to shred and smoke as-is? Or recommendations?

Here's a few orders and the shipping I paid:
10 lbs: $29.99 6 lbs: $25.15 4 lbs: 20.65
The Lemon FCV is good ... a little on the light side and I'd mix it with some of the Red FCV (if not a little Burley as well). Press those together for a few days to a week and then jar it for a few months.

I sent them an email and asked for an estimate on 1 pound. Also, suggested that they put a 'shipping estimate' for 1,2,3 pounds on the site for folks to use as a reference. Better would be the normal shipping estimator, but an idea would be good. It isn't uncommon for some online sites to charge more for shipping, by several times sometimes, than the item costs. Those rates you showed aren't bad. But I would hate to pay 15 bucks for some leaf and 15 bucks to ship it.
