Everclear is my alcohol of choice for cleaning my pipes, but dipping a pipecleaner requires that you either tap it against the side of the jar, or have a paper towel nearby to catch the excess, and inadvertently getting Everclear on the stems really does a number on vucanite. Not a problem anymore...these Tupperware tumblers are Ideal, they are marketed as: www.tupperware.com/tupperwarer-impressions-16-oz-470-ml-tumblers.htmlAnd they feature "dripless straw seals" in the lid, that works wonderfully at squee-gee'ing the excess from the pipe cleaner, no muss-no fuss. And since the sraw hole is near the edge, you don't have to fill the tumbler, as tilting it allows you to saturate 4 inches of a 6 inch pipe cleaner. My wife found some cheap on Ebay, and picked up a few virtually new ones at a thrift store.

Good idea on that. I have been told and used Isopropyl Alcohol for cleaning. I bought some of that Green Fluid Pipe Sweetener. I am not sure if there is anything in it besides Wintergreen and Alcohol, but I bought 4 16 oz bottles of Wintergreen Alcohol for less than ten $. That's a half gallon... and it works as well as the pipemaster brand. Pick it up from Walmart or a pharmacy.

Cool. Like Cobguy, I've been using a little plastic shot glass for years but this method appears superior. While I fully agree Everclear is also probably superior, I believe it's not available in all states. I've been using Kettle One triple distilled vodka for years without any detectible damage to my babies. I know, additional water content, bad, etc...but it's worked for me and makes an incredible Bloody Mary as well when the mood hits me.

Girl who drinks red wine: classy, may be a bit pretentious.
Girl who drinks beer from the bottle: low maintenance, will play paintball with you and won't freak out if she sees a bug.
Girl who does shots of vodka: party girl, kinda wild, will flirt with your friend.
Girl who shoots Everclear: fucking crazy, run for your life.

I wouldn't drink isopropyl alcohol with wintergreen, so I don't use it in my pipes.

Although I don't use Everclear to clean my pipes, I would think that just sucking off the excess of the pipe cleaner before putting it in the stem would work. Might be a problem if you're cleaning a lot of pipes though. I've used isopropyl 91% to clean my pipes for years with no problems. No I don't drink it, but just remember, that is what the nurse wipes your arm with a split second before giving you a shot, so I don't think that it will hurt you, especially if you let it evaporate for a minute or so. Just my two cents...
