This will be our first Thanksgiving in our new-to-us home. I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow. We plan to overeat and spoil the grandkids as much as possible.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble Gobble!
Thanksgiving is supposed to commemorate the big dinner that the Pilgrims had with the Indians to show their appreciation to the Indians for helping them along by providing corn, squash etc to the starving Pilgrims. Remember though, they also gave us tobacco!

Sittin here in the family room, enjoyin my second cup of coffe and gettin ready to watch the parade on tv with The Blonde. I'm reflecting on what a charmed life I've been able to live thus far. Thankful for the friends and family that God has placed in my life as well as the blessings and experiences I've had. I'm thankful for the country in which I was born, and later given the honor of defending, that allows me to worship where I want, live where I want, speak how I want and be who I want to be. May God bless those brave souls that have died defending those God Given Freedoms. May God bless those that are in harms way today doing the same. May God bless all of you out there and your families, regardless of who you did or didn't vote for last year or what your favorite tobacco blend is. Dino

As a Cajun we didn't really know about Thanksgiving, we shared with neighbors who had fallen on hard times, I first saw a throw down Thanksgiving meal in the service, I have traveled all over the world and Americans are the only breed that helps one another. If anything let's feel good for ourselves, pat each other on the back and forget all this unnecceary crap and celebrate our uniqueness. God Bless America. I would be remiss if I did not say Yoh has the best emoigs, I think that's what you call it, love them, thanks Yohanan.

It's hard to get into the fall and winter holiday spirit here in the hot southwest but we will celebrate Turkey Day and hopefully a big Vikings Win with a bird lightly smoked then roasted on the grill later.

I lost a few buddies this year that have gone on to their heavenly reward, and they both left great legacies, they certainly enriched my life. A granddaughter came into the world, and a grandson is in the oven. I have travelled abroad, and although I thoroughly enjoy visiting other cultures, the truly is no other place like the USA.
I believe in American exceptionalism, and you can see it woven through our history from the time of our founding, until the present.

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. We enjoyed it with some friends and family at our house for supper, and then continued it with an open house afterward. I think the last person left around 1:30 AM. It was a good day.

We are having ours today since I had to Truck all night Wednesday night. I brined a turkey, and am in the process of lighty smoking it over apple wood chips, southwestern stuffing with Chayote squash, garlic, onions, cornbread, hatch green chiles, pecans, sage and thyme, cilantro. Rosemary roasted Brussel sprouts with green beans, green onions, bacon, drizzled with lemon juice. Roasted garlic mashed potatoes. A buddy that works for Boudin french bread in San Francisco had the bread delivered this morning Blackberry peach cobbler Pumpkin roll desert.
