Thanks Giving and Black Friday have passed and Christmas shopping season is underway. This was my father's favorite time of the year.He didn't care if he got anything or not.He just loved to buy Christmas Gifts for other folks. He passed on 20 years ago and I still miss him dearly this time of the year. Some of my fondest memories are the times I spent Christmas shopping with him in the cold snowy Michigan weather.I would give much to spend one more day like that with him..When I'm gone on to the next life I hope everyone close to me knows how much I loved them, and that I showed that love.Especially at Christmas.

It's great that you not only had time with him but remember those times fondly. Sounds like a good man. Best wishes to you and yours this holiday season.

I can appreciate what you are talking about. Used to go out with my Father to a tree farm, where you went out, picked out the tree that you liked, and then cut it down. Seems like my Dad usually picked out the coldest, and windiest days to go looking for a tree. We always came home with one, sometimes to listening to Mom bitching and complaining that the tree was too big, too small, crooked, etc. However, whatever tree that we brought home was the tree that we set up in the house. Despite the criticism of Mom, I really don't think that was ever a bad one.

I'm sure that many of us share similar memories, . The important thing is to pass those traditions along to our children and grand kids so they'll have the same memories of us. Next Saturday will be the 40th Christmas Tree Chopping Party for our group of friends. Most of our kids weren't even born when we started it. We go to the same bar every year. They set up a buffet and I play guitar and we sing Christmas songs for a few hours. And now our kids are bringing their kids. It's an important day for them and that makes it all worthwhile. Sometimes we don't realize the impact we have on them but it is heartening to see that they realize that this time of year is special.

Great memory Larry, he raised a fine son to carry on the legacy.
