Justin...that is my goal! My dream would be to live remotely where if things ended up TEOLAWKI (The End of Life as We Know It ), it would be nice to unplug from the grid, and live in a temperate climate where I could be self sustaining as much as possible...I have the cellar, guns and ammo.. .time to get the beer, scotch and bean cellar in line.
You and I are more alike than you know. I watch Doomsday Preppers all the time and would love to be off the grid. Unfortunately, health keeps me plugged in 24/7. To Justin's point, totally agree. Xuan and I have had every idiotic argument ever conceived. We got over them.

You and Xuan are in a relationship, not doing business. That's a whole other ball of wax.

I was in business as a peddler for some years. The customers and suppliers were treated as relationships

To each their own ... I'm far from being sensitive to words but not a schmuck you can talk to however you'd like either. He certainly wouldn't have said it to my face.

I hear you David, and that is generally my approach....I agree with everyone here that each is entitled to their own views on issues, but in my case I tried privately to suggest that as a proprietor, he would do well to lean neither left or right, but he snarled back at me like a rabid rat.
If that is his business model, he has a right to pursue it in the manner of his choosing....as mentioned earlier he did say pretty much "screw the domestic market, I can make money overseas"...pretty arrogant for someone that ignores importation rules, and pretty stupid also...alienating people and being unnecessarily provacative when you are skirting duty fees, sets up the possibility that you will be brought on to the radar of the authorities....thereby closing off access to the people you profess to be beholden to. I am glad that my rent money isn't dependent on this guy's business practices.
It really isn't about politics, or being too easily offended, it is about common decency.

As always, there's a fine line with this. I don't shop at Walmart because of their business practices, the way they treat employees, how they made it impossible for so many local businesses to stay afloat, their tax avoidance, corporate welfare, and various other issues. And I would not patronize an establishment that discriminated against anyone on the basis of race, sexuality, religion etc. So while I happily patronize 4noggins, I can see how some people would choose not to. I wouldn't shop at any tobacco retailer that showed support for something I'm ethically or morally against.

And I agree with that, as I agree with everyone here. Yes, it's possible. Everyone has their lines in the sand. I am just proffering my take on things. If I had a pastor tell me a dirty joke I might not go to that church (not that I am able now) again. So all points well taken

Everyone has a right to their own opinion...but I am the leading expert on my own opinion.

I suppose if I knew the politics of everyone I did business with, I would be sitting naked and starving in a home with no electricity. I am happy to go along my day with a don’t ask don’t tell attitude, and most merchants are savvy enough to do the same. When, however, politics are thrown in my face, begging for a reaction, they will get one.
