I still haven't figured out where all of Distinguished Gentleman's flavor comes from. It's really smooth, creamy, rich, but not heavy. The Cyp Lat and Orientals are just part of the overall whole. I bring this up though, as I do encourage people to try this blend for the same reason Jim of Inks fame did what he could for EGR. Also, this is a great (IMO) companion tobacco for EGR. E. Hoffman only has two tobaccos. I do note this does sell in EU for about three times what it does here. I just don't want to see this go away. I researched this a little. It does not sound like it was a revamped oldie. It's brother toby, Spilman Mixture, is. I guess someone tried for a classic flavor and this was it. It is carried by only a few online retailers, SPC being the only consistent one. This is not Nightcap or Black Frigate (arrrr), but I can't stop smoking this one. I look forward to it. Other than Five Brothers, even my most fave tobaccos are not anticipated like this one. Ever onward: P&C Sutliff
P&C has some new Sutliff additions. They now have Mixture 79 in bulk. Hine's Mixture, which is a HOW original blend. J4 Burley, which JimInks turned me on to. ZBC, which is a steamed Green River Cav - I bought some of this with a coupon. Also, some blending tobaccos. Some where available before, but you had to search them. P&C is about the same as SP on Sutliff price, but P&C is sales nutty right now so take advantage of them. Damned shame they don't carry E. Hoffman. I will keep picking up a 7 oz tin until the cows come home. Do not want to run out of this one

Rather than start a new thread I looked up my old one. It's related, so it made sense to me. I have been going on about the wonders of E. Hoffman's Distinguished Gentleman, and today I had my first sip of their other blend, this one being a recreation of one not sold for 70 years or so. Spilman Mixture. It is a wonderful, smoky companion to Distinguished Gentleman. I bought a 7 ounce and 2.5 ounce tin a while back when I was trying new things. I figured if I opened one and liked it I would want another. So, I bought another 2.5 oz tin before even trying it. I won't call it crushed velvet like the other, but the flavor is still smooth and maybe deeper. For the total buzz wonks wanting the highest nic hit a tobacco can give, this is not it. For someone who wants a nice tobacco with the right amount of lat by a fire this really works. So, I will be getting another 7 ounce tin of this before too long. I don't smoke enough to say this will be daily, but as Jim of INKS (International Nefarious Killing Squad [as if I need remind anyone]) says, not an all day smoke, but can be repeated.

My question, what is the definition of a crossover blend and will it ghost my pipes?
