My last smoke was in the wee hours of this morning when I had a bowl of McClelland's Samovar in a Comoy's Guildhall billiard. Having to lay off smoking for a while until this cold runs its course.

Revisited Velvet yesterday after trying (and disliking) it several years ago. I am uncertain as to what changed in the interim, but I found it to be very pleasant in a group-two-size 1928 Dunhill Shell briar pipe. I'm looking forward to trying it in different sized bowls, and in my trusty old Missouri Meerschaum Patriots.
Sometimes "simple" is simply the best answer.

Now smoking D&R Vengeur Platinum in a straight smooth medium brown 2016 Brigham Klondike 16 bulldog with a black acrylic stem. Got a giant box of great samples today (including some Strang, 1994 Christ. Cheer, 1996 McC. Red Flake, and three Compton blends), plus a 1998 Ashton pebble grain billiard/chimney.

All for the better, in my opinion.

As for Granger, I never had a problem with the original Liggett & Meyers or Pinkerton versions, and have not tried the STG-Lane iteration. With regard to Half and Half, I believe that they ruined a classic. Thankfully I have enough of the American Tobacco Company and Pinkerton versions to last the rest of my life!

I deduced the blend I picked up at my local brick and mortar is in fact HGL. The majority if not all of their Blends are from Lane Limited, so a delicious aromatic with a kiss of Latakia which BTW is my most pleasurable new to me Tobacco. Guess I'll have to see if I'm correct on my next smokingpipes order. Started the day with HGL in a Savinelli Giubileo D'Oro apple 2004 with a gallon of coffee, make that 2 gallons of coffee. Great day all!! Happy to read you are smoking the GDO 2004! Every time I see it, I have to grab it, it's a fabulous smoker! ODFRR in a Gepetto Bulldog along with a delicious cup of joe, good evening folks

A third of the way through this bowl of Director’s Cut in a smooth straight late ‘50s, early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad, too! My second Conrad pipe. Watching Yankee Doodle Dandy.

For some reason if I eat certain foods that day the Velvet seems to inflame my tongue. I have some vintage (50s and 60s) that are hydrating. At first they didn't have much aroma. After a couple weeks they are smelling like Velvet, but not as strong. I have no problem eating licorice and that is the main flavor, so I wonder what gives.
