While listening to a talk show where the hosts were discussing the passing of celebrities in 2017, this story came up...
Pretty funny.

That was great with morning coffee, Jay was born in Texas but was raised in New Orleans and we Louisianans claim him, great talent.

Jay's retelling of this true anecdote became a year's end tradition at the Letterman show, as none of us got tired of listening to Jay tell it. And also, he usually won the contest that iirc involved knocking off a pizza that stood atop a Christmas tree, with a ball.

Can you imagine being the guy in the Buick? You attempt to be sub-dirtbag against a couple obvious losers, and the Lone Ranger comes up and tells you that you are busted?

Clayton Moore was one hell of a nice person. He came to our town for a week when they were celebrating their 100th or 150th Anniversary. At the time, he was not allowed to wear his mask because some sobs that bought the rights to the Lone Ranger would not allow him to do so. He had to wear dark colored goggles to simulate his mask. If I can find the pics that I have, I'll post one. I wonder if there was a relationship between him and 'Pickle' Moore.

Cool that you were there to give him respect...guys like him instilled virtues into people that transcend other peoples attempts at breaking down what the Lone Ranger stood for.

Although I did not personally have the opportunity to spend any time with him, some of my friends did. He wanted my cousin (who was a policeman at the time) to drive him to Texas, and was willing to pay him for the service.
