Awesome pipe. Why is it that pipe makers never put the date where the branding goes? I always see guys having issue dating their pipes. It just makes sense that they would.

Nice looking bulldog, it sure cleaned up well. As for the dating, Just a guess but I don’t think back then there was much of a thought about estate pipes or a determination of production date needed down the road. The guy that bought the pipe would know when he bought it. Dunhill Pipes is has interesting info on why their pipes were dated... it seems that it was done so as to not have to warranty older pipes under the newer policy at the time. pipedia.org/wiki/A_Dunhill_Pipe_Dating_Guide
