Good evening, Pipers I bought this La Rocca New Rustic sitter at the local B&M this past summer. The price was right and I loved the look. Thing is, calling it a 'sitter' is Ironic as it is completely off balance. Make matters worse, I am usually a clencher and this pipe is unbearable. Is there a way to replace the stem or maybe shorten this one so that it is more akin to a 'poker' style pipe? Thanks

Sell it and start over again.

To do what you want would cost more then you paid. I agree with John.

I considered your advice. Taking into account what I would get for it (I'm assuming maybe half of what I paid or maybe a little less) and subtracting from that ebay's and PayPal's cuts.. Add to that the hassle of shipping.. I asked myself if would I buy this pipe for $30 and the answer is most definitely Yes.
Hate was maybe a strong word. It smokes fine, just a little cumbersome. I'll just Keep it in the rotation until new briars eventually edge it out and then it can hangout and look nice on a rack some day.
Thanks, guys

Yo red
Some B&Ms will send pipes out for a new stem. Depending, they may not be artisan-grade, but at least they will be functional. Last time I did this it could $15, but that was 9 years ago.

I can put a after market molded stem on it for $10. No guarantee it will be perfect (slight gap at shank, stuff like that) but since you have the original stem this could be a work around. I haven't done very many so take that for what it is worth. You would still need to pay shipping both ways but we could swap some samples as well.
