Morning Charlie. That's a good question. I've smoked a lot of Orlik Golden Slice. I like it fine as is and normally go with another when I want more perique. I'd start out with a light mixing hand, use the famous WAG method (wild arse guess) and season to taste.
Not much of an answer I know but it's the best I can do on a lazy Saturday morning. As a side note, with Dunhill Flake possibly to be no more shortly, I find OGS to be incredibly close to that one and an acceptable substitute if cellaring back a sufficient amount of Dunhill Flake isn't an option.

Yeah, I have a bunch of OGS squirreled away, and a fair amount of Dunhill Flake.... they had the 3.5 Oz OGS at 4noggins a few years ago for $10 per tin, I believe I paid a bit under that for the Dunhill flake, wish they were 3.5 Oz also.

Even 25% is reasonable ... Cool Hand Fluke has around 40% and pushes that envelope for sure. I've smoked Perique straight a few times and it's tolerable.

The tinned stuff is really wet, it looks like it was just pulled out of the barrels. I am going to jar the concoction and give it a few months.

What @johnr said: 10-15% to start with. Maybe up to 20%. Like you said, it's a condimental blend, not a base.

Well it will be a tad under 20% since it equals 120 grams....loose, it halfway filled the quart jar, pressing down I got it into a half pint...the Orlik had about 3 years age on it...in a couple months I will test it on the Pipe cub guinea pigs pipe club members. Perique:   Orlik:  Marriage  |
