The great Edward G. Robinson's birthday is December 12. Actor, art expert, tobacco pipesmoker. And inspiration for the Sutliff Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend. Let us salute him. "Wait, listen up ya mugs: I prefer to smoke a pipe. And nyeahh, sure, in the movies more frequently a cigar. But watch also Bullets and Ballots (1936)."

Robinson does a lot of pipe smoking in I Am the Law with the pipe very prominent in a few scenes. Great pipe smoking movie.

Yes, it is. I like B or B for the pipe because in that scene he's offered a cigar and turns it down saying "I smoke a pipe". Lol. That is a great scene for us! I wish I could snippet just that bit of dialogue as a .gif of sorts. It would be fun to have around. Another good (I would say, great) EGR pipe movie is The Stranger, with Loretta Young and Orson Welles, who also directed. A snipped from that movie would be nice, but not the part in which he snaps his pipe in half with an angry flourish. My name is Edward, and for some reason when I was kid my mother used to call me Edward G. Robinson, joking absentmindedly (I hope). When I finally saw him in a movie and then looked at myself in the mirror then I realized what she meant. Lol, little square-faced kids who have dark hair all look like him, just like babies and Churchill. From then on, I watched all the EGR movies that came up on TV and began to perform and hone my impression of him. My father asked me to stop when they started calling me Al Capone (just because of the EGR impression, honest). If you look like Eddie G. I suppose you can easily also look like Al. As Oscar Levant wrote, "When I was a kid I looked like Al Capone, but lacked his compassion."

Will light a bowl of EGR this evening in celebration and rememberance. Yes of course! We should all do this. The least we can do I'm sure for a gentlemanly celebration. (I guess the lady pipers are most probably not fans, but who knows.)

The French Maigret series has Maigret turning done fine cigars on a regular basis because he smokes a pipe.
