Just got this news in an mail:
To my 4noggins Customers,
It's been 15 years since I started 4noggins.com. During that time I've gotten to know many of you very well, and consider you more than just customers, you're friends. Now that I am 67 years old, it's time for me to spend more time with family, travel, and do what I enjoy most, sail. So, I've decided to sell the business. The new owner is Jeff Tomei and he will continue to supply all of you with the same great products, prices, and service that you're accustomed to.
During this brief transition period, there might be some delays and glitches that will need to get worked out, but I am confident that Jeff will get through it in a short period of time.
Rich Gottlieb 4noggins.com
Thank you all for the best years of my life. It's been a joy knowing and working with you.

He shipped a lot out of country, probably affect them the most.

Good point above. For all our friends overseas I hope the new owner keeps shipping overseas. Lot of places won't bother.

Glad to see that the business didn't just go away like the Pipe Guys. The more competition, the better for the consumer.

I hope the new owner maintains its Amazon presence. When shopping there, it is convenient to pick up pipe cleaners and DRG pipe filters.

Interestingly, King Kevin of Magazonia stated that Jeff Tomei is the cousin of actress Marisa Tomei. That revelation led to the discovery of this item (STAR'S CROOKED-KIN ATT'Y SUSPENDED) which appeared in December 20, 2001 on-line edition of the New York Post. Let's hope that the King is mistaken.

The reason Godbee closed the thread over there is no doubt the same reason this thread should be closed. FYI I was banned from that site 5 years ago and am just saying what I think! It's Christmas and all people wanna do is find fault with someone else.

In my opinion the reason that thread was closed was entirely self-serving. Kevin mentioned that 4noggins' founder was a site sponsor, and that he hoped the new owner would continue as such. If the new owner and the gentleman referred to in the New York Post item are one and the same, then this news might possibly affect Kevin's pocketbook. The ironic thing is that he was the one who mentioned Mr. Tomei's familial relationship to the actress. Had he (figuratively) kept his mouth shut, then no one might have been the wiser.
I'm in favor of letting bygones be bygones, but I'm not in favor of scuttling discussion just because the topic might be found to be fiscally inconvenient or embarrassing.

It is kind of bizarre to announce on the forum that he hopes to keep him as an advertiser.
(I imagine) proudly mention that his sister is a celebrity, only to later telegraph that he was busted for criminal activity.
Probably not the best way to curry favor with a prospective client.
Maybe offering her the opportunity to be the newest pipe babe can smooth things over.😉

I don’t have a horse in this race, I stopped buying from them a while ago. I’m all for giving folks a 2nd chance and hope that those who do buy from them have good experiences. I for one will be in the “wait and see” crowd. I would like to add that this is my go to forum and the example HunterTRW gave is one of many reasons why I rarely comment on the other forum.

In the end run Godbee uses that forum to make money. He really doesn't give two hoots what people talk about so long as it isn't badmouthing folks who pay the bills or prospective ones. He is a Capitalist, what do you expect!

He is a Capitalist, what do you expect! I agree. People tend to forget that the basis of all forums is to make money. Just because you don't pay a fee to participate doesn't mean there is no cost to running or hosting a forum. Someone has to pay for it. The policy of not biting the hand that feeds you is a sound business policy that most companies use and abuse.
