The Romans had some wise men among them. When a victorious general came back to Rome to report his success he always had a guy standing behind him. And when he was bragging away how easily he defeated the enemy and the hords of primitive savages the guy whispered in his ear: "Memento Mori!" - Remember you will die too one day! In this they kept their high rollers grounded. A wise thing indeed! While I am not very fond of the general "skull fashion madness" I think its a good thing to remember that we will leave this stage one day and will have to fess up and that our life to that we cling on so dearly may not be all that is in store for us. Well, we all will see... One of my earthly follies, as you all will know, is collecting all things Falcon. And when I found out that German pipe carver Oguz Simsek made a bowl for Falcons I needed to pull the trigger. I have to say that Simsek is not only hugely talented but his pipes are VERY reasonably priced too. This skull is even anatomically correct as far as I know. The pipes from Simsek that portrait famous people like Beethoven for instance were so much to the point, incredible! Ok, here we go - memento mori!

Wow. Frank, that is awesome. The rough patch on top just adds to the overall feel. Very cool.

Not my cup of tea, but looks well carved. Enjoy!

I'm not one for Falcons but, I must say I'll own one in a hot tick if it had that bowl on it. I have a Simsek skull pipe and he does excellent carving work but, as for his stems I'll just say, he needs more practice.

Thank you guys! The collectors bug always bites me too easily. Thank god I am in for the unusual, the weird and whacky. So I can sell it off with not much problems if I am tired of it... But of course this will only happen if I have collected every Falcon !

Frank, you might convince me to give Falcons a try.

Jamie, they might not be the most beautiful pipes in the world but they smoke like a champ! Cleaning is soo easy too. I love to find new bowl/stem combinations and find them highly addictive. On the other hand you can go along nicely with just one stem and a few bowls.
