I have hope for this forum even though it appears it is going the route of What tobacco are you smoking theme. I just looked and other then the aforementioned thread nothing posted for over 8 hours. I don't know what to sy and neither do I have answers. I just hope it is fixed.

It is all cyclical, Dave. People are busy, people have lives. We also have a smaller number of members than most other sites, which takes time to build.
I can only post so many videos and articles and rely on the rest of the gang just as much to generate some interest.

Starting from scratch just a couple months ago I think progress has been great. I've seen several pipe forums fail to get off the ground and fold after 6 to 9 months of struggling. Sparks hit the nail on the head,,,Spring is upon us and a lot of members are shaking off the winter cobwebs and resuming outdoor activities. Baseball, soccer, and other childrens activities have started and I've noticed a lull in posting across all the pipe boards.

I try not to post unless I have something to say. Absolutely nothing interesting happened in those eight hours. I'm not worried about periodic posting lulls.

I try not to post unless I have something to say. And I agree. I'm at the age where I need to watch myself because a particular point of view that I have could actually be the musings or rantings of an aging grouge.

I'm musing you might have meant 'grouch'? I rant against your misspelling!
That said, just to make sure grouge was not a word, I googled it and the first link is an Urban Dictionary site that says it means, and I quote: "to rip a niggas spine out". I'm guessing you meant grouch. [/rant]

My approach is, I want people to contribute when they feel comfortable doing so, and as many have said, when they think they have something to worthwhile to add.
I would prefer a bit of radio silence vs. the written diarrhea I see on other forums. I think we have a good thing going here. We will get an influx of people after the Chicago show I hope and we will continue to grow. We have been at this for 2 months now... I would say we are making a decent go of it.

This generated some positive debate. I hope this forum has a long and successful run. I have not posted anywhere regularly in a few years. This was on me after getting the bums rush from another forum. But in all honesty I was tiring of the cronysm and all around bullshit I saw at the time. So far the forum has not been dominated by a few, I hope it stays that way. Thanks for starting this Justin (Sparks).

Sparks is right (as usual ) Even if I just post in the WAYS thread, at least you know that I was interested enough to log on and have read the threads, commenting when I have something to add. Cool place this.

There you go. I tagged Justin as a guy I liked back on the old pipesmagazine forum - he spoke when he had something to say; same reason I liked archy, though she went off alone. For me, I don't care what you've just eaten, smoked, or drank; I'm interested if you have something to say. I believe in liberty, the freedom to say or do what you will, but I don't believe in it enough to force it on others.

Anyone notice how valentine can pull off a top hat and tails, with a carnation looking thingie in his lapel? I can't do that.
Frank, 'pull off' means 'makes it work, or looks right', and I can't do that.

I don't think that is the real Frank..that has to be a cardboard cut out that he puts in different attire every time he updates a picture...

I don't know what Jim will smoke next; I think he's weird and I don't understand him.

See? That's the Royal Ascot, people; the Royal fucking Ascot, and you can't get more British than that. Still looks German. And that's an observation and a compliment.

I don't know what Jim will smoke next; I think he's weird and I don't understand him. If you think Jim is weird, you'll really think I'm nuts: I sometimes have three pipes working at once with very different blends in each, and a chilled dram of my best hootch - this brings out a wonderful contrast between each blend and adds to the appreciation of each set of tobacco characteristics. Bear in mind that in this life there is no such thing as normal, unless you subscribe to the lemming mentality that would have everyone follow the hearse to the cemetery and then over the cliff.
