Hey, got Jim's attention! My friend Jim, no one else smokes a different tobacco every time. I don't, and no one else does. It's different. You are interesting. I said weird, but maybe unique would be better? Unique to the point of eccentricity? No one else smokes a different tobacco out of a different pipe every time. Only you. Not a putdown at all, but it seems weird; different. No one else does that. You'd be interesting to meet, because I'd like to see if that carried over to other parts of your life.

David! I smoke 9 to 12 bowls a day. 4-5 tobaccos open on the table. Very rarely the same tobacco twice in a row (unless the previous tobac was exceptionally tasty ) and never the same pipe twice in a day (unless it's a cob ). And then at work, more often than not, burley in a cob all day long.....go figure Snazzy dresser Frank! And thanks for the tip on the iced water and -tea Jim

Well, I have a nice collection and often dedicate pipes to blends or blends in the same genre. Sometimes, that dictates what pipe I will smoke. When I work, I smoke clenchers, and that factors into the decision making. As for tobacco, I just like lots of blends, and when the VaPer Three Nuns disappeared years ago, I began experimenting. As I smoke all day and night, I find switching off keeps me interested and avoids tongue fatigue. Variety of smokes are my spice of life. And I've seen other people on various forums who switch around a lot, so I'm hardly the only one who does.
It doesn't carry over that much in my life. I've been very happily married to a wonderful lady for almost 27 years. With her in my life, who needs variety? I had lots and lots of girlfriends when I was single. Being married to your dream girl is much better. I'm a friendly sort and have lots of friends from many walks of life. I don't rate them and they don't rate me. We just get along.
As for being interesting, I dunno. I do have lots of interests, but really, I just do what I do, be what I am, and never put a label on it. Mostly, stuff just happens naturally.

I just do what I do, be what I am, and never put a label on it. Ok, I have been staying out of this discussion thus far, but Jim, I am fairly certain you just nailed the true secret of happiness right there. I might have to use that as my signature.

I'm afraid you are sorely mistaken in ALL of your over-generalized presumptions, i.e.: "no one else does"; "a different tobacco every time"; "unique"; "a different pipe every time"; "Only you", "weird; "different"... - there's a big wide world out there, and I can assure you that most DO all of these things more often than not. Just look at the forum threads where folks post their smoke-of-the-hour or at whatever intervals they partake - they go from one blend to another, one pipe to another, etc. Bear in mind also that many of we pipe smokers don't make their living in front of a puter all day, so you won't really see the macrocosm of variations posted online portraying our enjoyment habits. JimInks is but one of multitudes that partake in this very way, to include myself. Our cellars are deep in multitudinous ways and we don't exhaust our delicacies one tin or vintage jar at a time in only one pipe. Not trying to call you out in an unfriendly way. Just trying to help you realize an about face. As you've put it - You'd be interesting to meet, because I'd like to see if your mode of broad-brushed generalization and presumption carries over to other parts of your life. Life is a kaleidoscope... play with it, explore, use imagination, keep eyes and heart ever open... live & learn!

Let's not turn this into a pissing match boys. I think it's meant to be a friendly, somewhat ribbing conversation.
Just keep in mind, inflection, humor and tone of voice are lost in written text.

Simnettpratt is from the UK....
Simon is from the UK....
A good friend of mine is from the UK...he was fresh from the UK, when we had to go in front of the pissed off boss. "You let me do the talking, mate" (Our boss was a hot headed Sicilian...a real powder keg)
The first thing my buddy/ co-worker said to the boss.. "What's got your pecker up?"
Yeah...I about crapped my pants...
See a pattern with these guys?
As a kid my dad worked regularly training British troops, so I got used to the humor that can be misunderstood.
They need to work on their english though, the primary usage of pecker is not a birds beak.

I got to thinking. If jiminks wants to smoke 100 pipesand 100 different tobaccos a day that is on him. Mind you, that is not my cup of tea but his. My dang tongue would be on fire! If you don't care to see the posts stay out of the what am I smoking area. I am sure most of us can find something else to humor us in the forum!

I don't recall you posting in this regard. Thanks!

JimInks, I enjoy reading what you are smoking. I also. Enjoy your reviews from all of the forums I read you are the only one that can give a honest review. I find it amazing you are able to do this after smoking the many different styles of tobacco. So thank you John

JohnR and Crapgame: I greatly thank you for the very kind words. It means quite a lot to me to know my reviews are of help to people. Apparently, Chuck Stanion feels the same way as I was made a moderator at TR.com today. I was very pleased and very honored that he asked me.

I know we've sorta gone away from the original point of this thread, but for what it's worth I'd like to throw my thoughts in here.
Considering how new this community is, I'm pretty impressed with how active this place is. Justin is correct in his assessment that forums like this are cyclical. People come and go, they post when they have time, and sometimes other things cause them to leave entirely.
Another thing to consider is that this a pipe smoking forum, which means that people like me who are still learning the ropes may not always have something to contribute. I haven't had the pleasure of smoking a bowl in almost two weeks (I can't smoke when I'm stressed). Now that I'm unfortunately unemployed, I have a lot more time on my hands and lots of reading I need to do for my class work I will probably smoke quite a bit more. I've been meaning to try my McClelland virginia blend again and try it after all the advice given to me about getting the most out of the blend.

Now to the thread, you're a day late and a dollar short!!!
