Hello all. I am 35 years old from northern VT. I am definitely a codger even though I am not an old one yet. I smoke Grabows and cobs mostly. I don't rotate my pipes till I darn well feel like it and I smoke otc burly blends. Mostly Half & Half. I have been lurking for a few days and have to say this seams like a wonderful community.I hope you all can find a place here for a hillbilly that trims his cake with a jack knife. šI can hear the shuddering already! On the bright side I am...mostly housbroken.

I also use a pocket knife to remove cake I rounded the end of the blade so it doesn't dig into the bowl. And I don't get the bowls out of round. It's worked all these years for me...Welcome Aboard.Jump in and enjoy

Hi from Mexico City. I don't know if you go for Match OTC blends but Match Holiday Mixture is rather nice and may be up your alley.

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to list your smokes and join in on all the other threads, too. Some of these folks are less house broken than you are.

Welcome from PA. FWIW, I've been reaming by pipes with a pocket knife or the blade of a Rodgers tool for 40 years, it works. And I let the rims of my pipes get all tarred up. Barbarians welcome; in fact preferred in my book.

Barbarians welcome; in fact preferred in my book. I love the way a black tarred rim contrasts a lighter pipe. It's the way the pipes of the old fellas that introduced me to pipes kept theirs. To me it's how a pipe is supposed to look.I thought I was the last guy on earth that thought so.I was on another forum for a brief spell and soon realised that I wasn't classy enough for those folks. Rim tar was punishable by death.ā¹

adding my welcome from halfway between Buffalo & Rochester. I'm likewise in some ways, scrape cake with rounded end Sheffield pipe knife long as can remember. Rim darkening to me, normal. However if gets actually "tarred" will remove....somewhat. Becomes part of the "character" of the pipe.
Far as "codger"...pretty sure I've got seniority here. Daughter 58.
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY think 12/40 qualifies me, so far, as head.....ok, old fart!

Welcome, VT. I think you will find this community doesn't care much about what tobacco or pipes you smoke, or how you smoke them. We have a good group of people here from all walks of life. I'm sure you will fit right in.
So enjoy, light up a bowl and dive in. Thanks for being here.
