We had some discussion last night in the Briar Patch chat room about the upcoming Chicago show. Many, if not most, of us will not be there. In fact, many will probably never have the opportunity to go to a pipe show. So the idea of live streaming at a show came up. It seems to me that it would be rather easy to do a video feed over the internet. I would think that getting some of the big players to help sponsor this would be a no brainer. While I don't know anything about the technical side of this it would be a great opportunity to generate a lot of interest in the shows and the merchants exhibiting there. The question is how to get to the right people running the shows and pitch the idea to them. Any idea?

It was done for the NO pipe show and I couldn't go due to Medical reasons, I really enjoyed it. It's a Wondermous Idea John.

It is a great idea, but the technical piece of it is certainly a consideration. There is cost and time associated with it.
I would imagine someone with deep enough pockets could put something together in the short time between now and the show... but it ain't this guy.

In the event that a large scale operation can't be worked out, something as simple as sending someone in with a smartphone could suffice. They open a feed through the video cam on the phone, then tour the place, given viewers an up-close and personal tour of the show. It wouldn't necessarily have to be live either. Even a recorded tour would give some of us a much better glimpse at the show then we are likely to ever have in person.

I will be making a concerted effort to take pictures for sure. I may be able to do some video work.
You will have to forgive the production quality though, I'll do my best.

This sounds like a business opportunity. I'll have to build a plan.

Mike, I was thinking more about me doing this. There's a business incubation unit at Lehigh University that helps launch businesses. I don't know jack about the technical end but I do know how to write a business plan.
