I recently applied for and was granted membership in the Pipe Club of London (PCOL). Our Lehigh Valley Pipe Club is an affiliate of PCOL so I felt duty bound to become a member. I just received my membership packet. What a classy club! A couple of copies of the club journal, 2 stickers, a DVD and a real nice lapel pin. I would recommend looking at their web site as an example of what a true club really does.

BTW, Justin (Sparks) is also a member. Check out the new members page.

Thanks for posting this, John. I had meant to get some pictures of the membership package up, but this house hunting shite seems to eat up all my time. No wonder people usually only buy one house every 30 years.
PCoL is a great club and worth supporting. Aside from the cool swag you get, it's a well run organization.

Yep, another cool place. Have browsed their site for years, considering joining. Would be nice to have a place to go smoke whenever (that should read IF ever) I get to visit London.

I was considering them too but always wondered if they have in fact any club rooms in London?

Frank, Andy Stewart is a member of PLoC and he knows every place available for smoking. If you ever get to the London area Andy is the man to meet. He's a great guy.

Jason, Andy was in the States a few months ago on business for his new job and had no time to visit. I hope he can come at some time with his wife so we can do it right.

He really is a great guy. Honestly though, I was referring to him making his way here to The Patch, I don't hardly get to talk to any of those guys since I gave up on PM.

I'd love to have Andy over here. He doesn't seem overly active on any of the forums of late. Maybe John can drop him a line about our little piece of heaven.

I was a member years ago. Paying the dues in pounds sterling was expensive and a huge pain in the arse so I dropped it. Do the take PayPal? The pound is way down from when I was a member so it might be worth joining again. I remember them struggling to find a post ban meeting place and it was a month here and a month there with no stability. They seem to be on an upswing with a indoor spot at Fox.

So it's basically just a pipe group? Apologies, I really do not know anything about them.

So it's basically just a pipe group? Apologies, I really do not know anything about them. Think local pipe club/group, that happens to have an international following. What makes them rather exceptional, Charl, is the membership package and the newsletters.

I joined awhile back also, once you join you get a password to the website, and you can join the Facebook page that is closed to the general public. Depending on the membership you choose determines how many meetings you can attend.
I got the, same packet as,John, I think the fees barely cover the cost of the packet, shipping, hassle, etc. Certainly not a moneymaker for them.

news story in Liverpool Echo of Ogdens tobacco factory with photo's before redevelopment.
i finally found time to enjoy the London clubs journal as a new member, in my home City of Liverpool, there is great tradition of tobacco trade and manufacture which I am ignorant of in Liverpool, but the purge on tobacco has destroyed a lot of local employment in that trade. We have only one remaining pipe & cigar shop, but the good news is that it is opening a cigar lounge soon, so maybe a pipe community may take root again, but I am happy with my virtual friends I do not feel inclined to be as sociable as I was in my younger days. I see the American scene with Artisan pipe makers and boutique tobacco blenders which is very promising.

Threadsurrection! I received my Pipe of the year from the PCoL today, it really is a well-executed Savinelli, looking forward to the test drive.

They really have been!
The staff at the pipe club has been phenomenal in snaring some great POY factory pipes that I believe are made by the highest caliber employees, looking forward to completing a 7 year set.

Not sure what is going on in the original post with the pipe club link.
I am guessing it is some sort of temporary problem, I will ask one of the head honcho's what is going on.

I envision the set eventually displayed on a beautiful (Neil Yarm like) custom magnetic rack with the PCOL pin enbedded or a lazered in the wood base.
