Skip this if you read it already. YouTuber page Gently Tamped included a link to a list of blends that McClelland intends to discontinue, an information apparently obtained through Pipestud (Fallon) who, according to the guy in the video, spoke with the McC folks. I cant comment beyond that. Just sharing this video that I found. If this is true, my biggest loss would not be 5100, it would be Tudor Castle, Legends and Balkan Beauty.

Yikes. I had no idea it would affect their English/Balkan blends. I guess they're keeping what Red VA they have on hand to use in their biggest selling straight VA blends. Very surprised about the ones you mentioned, though, as well as Yenice Agonya, 3 Oaks, and 5110. Let the panic buying and hoarding begin. I followed his link to the thread at PM, and don't see any list. I wonder why pipestud didn't list them there, if that's where Gently Tamped got it....

The link that I mentioned is the one to the standalone link. Once you watch that video and access those links you know as much as I do. First time with Gently Tamped in my case. Pipes Magazine announced in FB today that it has a show tonight with Sean Reum. The announcement mentioned that Sean will/would discuss the McClelland discontinuation. The announcement ended with a recommendation to buy heavily from that manufacturer. So I don't know if all of this is on the level or if the panic business model is being launched. I never said it was true, just sharing what I found, as I mentioned in my original post. |

Yeah, I was just curious where he got that list specifically, and why he linked to the thread on PM which doesn't have the list.... I guess we'll find out soon enough. I never got all the McClelland Syrian blends I wanted to try before they disappeared, so lesson learned. I'd like to think that McC wouldn't stoop to such a sleazy level as "the panic business model", but that's based solely on my appreciation of their blends. |

All Pipestud posted was that he was told by Mike McNeil that 5100 would be discontinued due to the lack of the particular red needed to make it. He didn't offer a list. There is a list of "discontinued" blends on the Christian Pipesmokers forum, which is the only place I've seen such a list. I'm putting discontinued in quotes because there has been no official statement from McClelland on any of this, just speculation from people claiming to be "in the know".
If you are concerned, call your local B&M's to see if they have it in stock and buy it.
