I changed up my diet due to discussion in another thread about pH factor altering tobacco enjoyment. I got some Nitrazine paper and indeed my tongue was too acid. So, I looked up all the stuff. Mouthwashes with Xylitol can help. Got a great one with that, iodine, and colloidal silver in it. Then I decided to go a step further. For someone in such bad health you would think I would watch my foods. I do. I watch fatty meats, breads, pastas, and cheeses on my plate for the mere seconds before I inhale them. All on the acid list. Okay, two nuts (no jokes, please) are on the Al Kaline (7.0 or higher) end (my favorite bat as a kid). Hazelnuts and Almonds. Celery and Carrots are great. I love celery in soup and fresh carrots. No problem there. Then I thought, what the heck, let's get some soups. Tonight, instead of two chicken quarters I told Xuan one with a bowl of soup would be fine. Funny that these things are items I love, but just forgot they existed. Over the course of today I have had six bowls of pipe. Two more than my normal maximum is. Yesterday was similar. I am not getting any of the harshness I had experienced and am getting more of the tobacco flavor. Even on days my sinuses were murdering me the smokes were full and flavorful, though I didn't smoke as much those days.
Because of this nice club, and especially Dino, I learned something I didn't know, even when I worked in a lab. Your blood is slightly alkaline. That I knew. What I didn't know was your body works at all costs to keep it that way and sucks up all it can to keep that perfect balance. I figured that the blood pH just went up and down. Now I know and am feeding myself enough alk foods to make up the difference.
So when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, make sure it has plenty green peppers on it

Aw shucks.
Glad it worked out for you.
I can't take the credit for it though, other than being a pretty voracious reader and coming across an article about the reason for all of the various pipe designs being tried to eliminate tongue bite, only to learn that it really had almost nothing to do with the temperature or humidity and more to do with the chemical properties of whatever tobacco you're smoking and the current ph level in your mouth at the time.
This made perfect sense to me, being as regardless of how dry the tobacco was or how easy I puffed it, some tobacco's just absolutely blister my mouth.
