That Metalhead from C&D looks like a palette swap of me. If his hair/beard were blond/red, we'd be twins. haha I even have that shirt somewhere in the closet.
Really dig those stems. In my opinion, the need them. Cheap stems are what keep me from being in love with cobs.

I agree, the basic stems really don’t seem a whole lot different than the throwaway Chinese Cob’s.

I can always buy them for minimal cost if they wear out or get too chewed up. The amber ones are excellent for clenching, which I tend to do with most of my cobs. I smoke cobs while working in the yard, garage, etc. I did buy the Charles Towne Cob, however.

It's the cheap stem that keeps the price reasonable. Plenty of upgrades available and even retro fitting Amber and Danish MM stems can spiff up a cob and give it new life.

I jumped on one of the new bent billiards. It is quite nice and the stem doesn't take a filter, so you don't have to work around that. When they come out with some new models I will be waiting in line. $20 is a great way to satisfy the inevitable PAD.

I was at SP when they were posted. I was tempted, but noticed the pipe offered had two shallow, potential, cracks in the shank. I've been down this road before with MM, so decided to wait. They are a good looking cob and with that deluxe stem, a pretty good deal.

Exactly. I do the same. Even the Amber and Danish replacement stems are about fifty cents. I've replaced the stems on all of mine and have about a dozen extra stems ready for when I need them.
