Anyone else have this problem? I don't want to specify which site I'm buying, unless maybe they send me yet another one like this haha But honestly, I complained about the first one coming with a bunch of glue in the bowl, so they sent out a replacement. It arrived yesterday, and it's worse than the first one.
I just feel weird about smoking a pipe that came with a bunch of glue in the bowl. Anyone else have the same problem?

Do they actually say "Missouri Meerschaum" on them?

I have seen others say it's just Elmers white glue & to just smoke it if it's not obstructing the airway. It is usually easy to get out with a small blade knife or small flat blade screw driver.

If they are actually a glob, a flick of the blade will usually dislodge it. Then sand if you wish.

This issue was discussed in Magazonia once. It seemed to turn out to be a non-issue, if I recall

I had the shank on one split and am hoping some wood glue took care of it.

The only thing that worries me is that if the glue happens to turn toxic with the heat, then even removing it and sanding it down doesn't feel safe enough. I'm ignorant to the science of it all though.

The glue MM uses is nontoxic. Couple of hundred cob pipers here can attest to that. Clean it up to your satisfaction an fire it up, no worries.

I'm ignorant to the science of it all though. Just smoke it and enjoy! I'm guessing what ever the sprayed on the tobacco in the fields to keep the bugs off or the Chinese plaster of paris they use to fill the pipes is worse than the glue.

I bet the vape shops would charge extra for that.

I bet the vape shops would charge extra for that. Now you're making me long for the gasoline can again. Wow! Light just went off! How about Gasoline Ready Rubbed? Gasoline Cavendish?

Man, that guy is denigrating my favorite pipe My $1.97 cob was just like that. I just stuffed a dowel in the bottom with a little Elmer's around it and cut it off. Heck, I even sanded it down and stained it to make it look beoooooteeful. It's my work in the yard, stuff it in my pocket, don't give a darn what happens to it, pipe.

I'd smoke it. If you are worried about the glue, just mix up some pipe mud and slop that in the bottom of the bowl and smooth it out. Let it dry overnight and then smoke away!
