So I see that our own egg head has a review up of this blend that discusses the Latakia presence. Then I read further down and pipesnob err pipestud says five times that there isn't. What say you all?
I would tend to believe Jim but I have never smoked the stuff. I was just wondering if I should add it to my list of Lats to try.

I have and can smoke it and can only handle a smidgen of Latakia as an enhancement. It is there, to a modest degree, imo.
PS: I am referring to the original, no experience with the Match version.

I think Jim is correct. It's light, but I definitely taste Latakia in there. If you sniff the tin after sniffing Pirate Kake or something you'd never know. But after BCA you will detect it for sure (or coffee like French parfumiers do to cleanse their olfactory senses). The only way I'd accept that there is no Latakia is if there was other kind of smoked leaf in there, which combined with the Orientals make a lat-like smell taste. I don't taste dark fired KY, though.

From Tobacco Review’s opening at the top:
As there continues to be controversy over the question of whether Presbyterian Mixture contains Latakia, the following quote from page six of the blender's 2008 catalogue should leave the matter settled: "Extraordinarily soft blend of finest US Virginia grades and a number of selected Latakia leaf tips. Ideal mixture also for beginners with English tobaccos." Originally blended for mass market by William P. Solomon, whose recipe it still follows.

Pipesnob checking in to say that there is no Latakia in Presbyterian Mixture. Pipesnob checking back out. (-; Is that based on subjective taste or insider knowledge?

Oh, and sorry if this is opening up old wounds. I am expanding into the Lat world and wanted to know. Not trying to start a fight.
