I found these two unsmoked Stanwells at an antique shop. I paid $50 bucks for the two. The first is marked Stanwell Made in Denmark and below that, Colonial on one side on the the other it is stamped 204. It has an acrylic stem and is not a filter pipe. The second (I gave it to my son and he has it so I found a picture on Ebay) It has a silver band and Stanwell logo, is a panel pipe, acrylic stem with 9mm fliter. I looked all over the net and couldn't find these particular pipes. Can anyone help me with some insight?

Those pics come out way bigger than the screen. That top one shook me as I thought you took a pic of my butt until I scrolled down and saw the fingerprints

Congrats and Enjoy, good price. The Colonial line is fairly well known, the 9 mm may have been tailored to the European market.

The second pipe is huge. Easily twice the size of the Colonial.

I checked out Pipedia when I first got them. They have a lot of Stanwell catalogs posted, but couldn't find much. I did find the horn in one. Nearest I can figure it was probably made sometime between 2000 and 2010. They were made in Denmark so it was sometime before they moved from Denmark and Italy at the end of 2009.They both have acrylic stems. I don't know when Stanwell quit using vulcanite. I imagine that both pipes are about the same age.
The antique shop had a whole pile of unsmoked Crown (I don't know anything about Crown) pipes and these two Stanwells loose in a box. It looked like a pipe shop must have closed and the antique shop ended up with their stock of pipes. They still had price tags on them that didn't look like those in the antique shop. The horn was priced at $89 and the other was $185. The lady said she'd give me a deal if I paid cash. I offered 50 bucks for the two and she took it.
Their age doesn't change much as far as I'm concerned, it isn't as if I'm looking to sell them or anything, I was just curious...

Crown are decent everyday smokers, Italian, typically in the $40-$50 range.

EDIT: Oops, looks like you already found a lot of this. Teach me to not thoroughly read the whole thread.
The Stanwell 204 is a Tom Eltang designed horn. 'Colonial' refers to the specific line, which in this case is mainly the finish since there are no adornments, etc. Since it is stamped 'Made in Denmark,' it was manufactured prior to 2010. Since there is no Reg. mark (and since I do not know when the 204 shape was born) it was made sometime after the early- to mid-1970s. I believe the 204 was discontinued a few years prior to production moving to Italy, so you're looking at circa 1975 to circa 2005 . . . ish.
Not sure about number two. There is no shape number on it?

Thanks for the info!
I'm not sure about the markings on #2. My son has it at Auburn. He is home and will be back at school later today. I'll have him send me the details and I'll post them later. I know that it was made in Denmark, but I don't remember what else may have been stamped on it.

I had my son check the markings. On the bottom of the stummel is says:
Stanwell Made in Denmark Hexagon BR 22.
As far a I can figure the B and 22 is the shape (Billiard) I guess the R stands for special shape? I'm not sure.
It is as pictured with the gold band and gold logo on the stem.
I was able to find the same pipe in a catalog posted in pipedia, but with a silver band and logo. Other than that I am at a dead end.

Stanwells are very good pipes. I don't have any of the Italian made ones but I hear they are good as well. Just not the same as having a Danish one though. Enjoy them.
