While I usually prefer an aromatic, I found that I very much love John Bull. I am hoping someone could elaborate on this blend and tell me what makes it taste this way, specifically. I have also had English blends that are more peppery than this that I loved as well, but I am interested in understanding the science behind the flavors.
While I know I could just go to youtube and research this on my own, I have found that I very much prefer to hear it from the members of this forum, where I feel more at home.

Hey brother I'm uneducated with this blend, but the latakia is most likely toned down by the burley and black cavendish. This would more closely follow a crossover blend. I havent smoked it to try and pin it down but thats my best educated guess from the blend break down on tr. I need to read some more about english blends I'm familiar with before speaking about the differences too much.

I picked it up as part of a sampler pack on P&C. It's got a great fireplace flavor to it that really relaxes the mood of the entire room. It's the type of smell I would imagine one might find in the lobby of a ski or hunting lodge in the 1970's. Surrounded by wood and leather. hahaha Honestly though, I do picture different scenes when a flavor or scent is characteristic enough to take me somewhere. This one definitely has the ability transport the smoker to a different place, in a fantastic way.

My first impression was “Finally, a pouch blend that I like” and wishing it was one that I could pop into a Walgreens and buy if I was out of tobacco.
It has been awhile, but the impression was that it was a light Latakia, and I enjoyed it.

Well heck, you have piqued my curiosity now.
I have a pouch P&C sent free last year I have not opened. I'll crack her open and give it a try.

I have a pouch lying around, too. Must try it one of these days... I've heard good things about it a few times.

I smoked a pouch and enjoyed it. Have three more pouches in a jar. Here's my review of it:
If you like lots of latakia flavor in your blend, don't bother because this doesn't have that. This is a very mild blend with some subtleties of each aspect of the tobaccos in most every puff. I don't think I've ever seen a tobacco with several different kinds of tobacco be this mild before. The Virginia is a little grassy/hay with some citrus as the base of the blend. The lightly nutty, earthy and lightly molasses sweet burley is almost a supporting player. The Cyprian latakia adds a smoky, woody sweet push, and is just a tad more obvious than the burley. The black cavendish provides a mild sugar note in the background. Has a very mild nic-hit. It's an unobtrusive all day smoke that burns a little fast, but not hot, and won’t bite. Leaves very little dampness in the bowl, and hardly needs a relight. Has a decent, short lived after taste. This is for the smoker who wants a little smokey taste as he goes about his daily business, but doesn't want his senses filled up with what he's smoking. It's as well balanced a light smoke as I’ve encountered.

Really, right on the money.

This is what happens when the 'Committee' deems that any low priced tobac has to be inferior. I remember when they kicked a similar blend: Fox & Hound, around. Smokers Pride seems to have gained some ground, by being honestly reported on through use and not just opinion. I recently tried 8 Supervalue blends and a couple were good* and the balance were okay smokes in the 2 - 2 1/2 range.

Total agreement, Froggie, save I find them even more redeeming. If I ran out of Sutliff Black and Gold I would not hesitate to keep using Admiral's choice. In the "Natural Cavendish", SV and Virginia Gold are slightly sub Admiral's Choice, but I would go with SV if I ran out of Admiral's Choice. To John Bull, it is more reasonably priced than SV English, which I have not tried. So, I will make my own comparison and fight the "Committee" tooth and nail to get the truth out. Because we all know... The Truth is Out There

Hey frogs,, fox and hound is a great tobacco! Can't anything bad about it Didn't mean to infer that it wasn't. Reference was to its reception on an English pipe forum comprised of boutique smokers.

I hope this isn't too far off my OP topic, but can someone tell me, does this tobacco age well? And if so,do you move it from the pouch to an airtight jar? (I literally no next-to-nothing of aging)

(I literally no next-to-nothing of aging) Most people would look to a pouch as ready to smoke...If you don’t smoke through the pouch within a week or so it might be good to jar it so that it doesn’t dry out. John Bull is a light English, most people don’t think of English blends as something they set out to age, but aged tins of Balkan Sobranie seem to command the highes prices on the vintage market. As I said, John Bull is a light English (not heavily laden with Latakia), so the presence of that leaf is already muted.... some people like heavily laden Lat blends aged to mute the smokiness, this tin doesn’t need it. Smoke it and enjoy it now, or buy several pouches and fill a gallon mason jar as your dispensary.

I just have so many great tobaccos, and want them to last as long as possible because I just don't smoke every day, and can't always afford my tobaccos. At the moment, I have a bunch of different types, but I also have a bunch of mason jars. I guess they're going to come in handy! haha
