Do you have a preference when enjoying your pipe?

I wouldn't mind smoking indoors once in a while if my wife was okay with it, but I prefer outdoors anyway.

I do both. But outdoors is nice. Taking a walk, gardening, sitting on porch. Great smoking venue.

Only outdoors when it's warm and calm. Don't like what the wind does to the burn. I will smoke a cob when mowing my field however.

Outdoors is my only option. Or in my van.

This time of year I undoubtedly smoke indoors 95% of the time. The exceptions are cigars and pipes when golfing, weather permitting. During the warmer times of the year I probably split my smoking venue equally.

Outdoors when it is warm enough, or when walking or camping. Indoors when it is too cold.

Outside of horrendously smelly blends, I prefer to smoke indoors. I have noticed that some pipes smoke better with a little wind though.

Ticked indoors, but actually smoke just as much outdoors. Like both.

I've had a couple smokes outdoors when I am able to get down the four steps. That is not often, as I have to think about coming back up them. If it's a blend Xuan doesn't like she shuts the door to the room I smoke in

No preference here.
When it is over 100 degrees, I prefer indoors or in my tractor, otherwise I dig the outdoors.
Most enjoyable smokes are in solitude or with other pipers, be it at the club or Pipe Show.

Since I'm inept at clenching,I only smoke when I can stop for a bit. So,I'm usually inside at home.If I'm outside I'm always doing something and don't have an extra hand.

Indoors because I live alone. The computer's indoors. What possible reason could I have to go outside??

Pipes are indoors cigar are outside or in my car. IMO outdoor only smoking has hurt retention in the hobby.

I voted for indoors because thats where I usually smoke, but I think I prefer the front porch if the weather is good.

Weather is really the deciding factor for me. When I can, nothing beats grabbing my pipe roll and a good book and getting lost in the woods. I enjoy my pipes at home or at a pub with friends just as much though. I guess it also depends on whether I am feeling sociable. One might even say that moods are an internal kind of weather.

Pipes are indoors cigar are outside or in my car. IMO outdoor only smoking has hurt retention in the hobby. I smoke wherever when out and about. Went to the full service car wash, and there were tons of chairs, not many customers... no ashtrays nearby, so I asked the attendant if smoking was ok... “sure” was the reply. As I sat there smoking, I saw a cigarette smoker way across the lot sitting on the wall by the street as he waited for his car to be ready... he looked like a leper removed from the crowd. It amazes me how society has affected the practice of smoking and how people self segregate themselves so as to not offend others. I don’t care for cigarette smoke myself, but lacking ashtrays, I guess he did the right thing, most people don’t want to step in ash and drag it into their cleaned car. Cigarette smokers could make the situation better by not treating the world as an ashtray with strewn butts. The nice thing about the pipe is that I never have to leave anything behind... a bit of ash can be put at the base of a plant if I need to dump. To the point though, smoking my pipe in public in my opinion helps to destigmatize our hobby, and generally I receive no pushback.

Used to sit outside on the lania and watch the kids & wife swim in the pool. Smoked my cigar and tried to find the better man. Kids are teenagers now, sold the house for a condo...so now it's a rocking chair outside on the lania with a pipe and content with the fact I never robbed a freight train.

Feel bad resurrecting this thread, but don't want to start a new one if this exists...
I smoke outdoors, but very rarely in the garage. I'm not keen on inhaling the smoke which is inevitable if I smoke indoors.

I prefer to smoke my pipe indoors, but only do so in my shop. I always smoke cigars outdoors and mainly in the spring and summer months.

I'm not the world's greatest outdoor smoker, but when DW tricks me into something she calls "Going for a walk", I usually fill a pipe and bung it in a coat pocket. Normally I prefer smoking indoors in my armchair or at my desk.
