We pair our beverages to our pipe smoking, but what about our activities (or non-activities)? Right now I'm enjoying a non-activity that I find relaxing: sitting. But I like to combine just sitting with reading, too. I think that reading and a pipe go hand-in-hand. A pipe and a good walk are another go-together for me. Of course, the stereotypical image has long been Dad raking leaves, smoking a Dr. Grabow or Kaywoodie and an OTC tobacco. What are your favorites? Do you pair a certain pipe or tobacco to something that you like to do?

I very much enjoy reading and puffing. The two seem to fit well together.
Another is watching a good documentary. Things that actually require some thought always seem to be well complimented by the pipe.
That being said, I'm always down with sitting too. Sitting is always enjoyable, Russ.

Truck Driving...because I can smoke at work.
At home, it is generally with reading, preferrably a book, but while browsing the net too.

Walking slowly behind my dogs while they run through the woods is a favorite.
Sitting quietly and reflecting on the day / week is probably the most common for me, though.

Normally the pipe dictates the tobacco or my mood only and I seldom do anything while smoking cause then I'd have to wear a bib, cause clenching just makes me drool like a St.Bernard. But, when on the tractor mowing I'll always have a cob just in case the pipe fails to stay with me and commits suicide by jumping underneath the blades.

Driving. I rarely drive anywhere further than 10 minutes away without a pipe in my mouth. Working around the house or yard, I generally have one as well. Just sitting is also nice. I want to start taking an evening walk with a pipe.

Reading, television, radio, gardening, work @ the puter, walking the dog, phone conversations, day dreaming... all go hand-in-hand with my pipe smoking escapades. Root beer, good booze, and beer are my usual accompanying liquids of choice, all chilled.

I love sitting on my porch, smoking, and watching birds. My wife feeds them so we usually have some to watch. Most afternoons 3 or 4 eagles soar around.I'm also in a flight pattern for planes so there are some of them to watch.

Early in the Morning, coffee, on porch facing a rice field, 2 wood duck boxes , family of them batting their wings , 2 red birds pecking at the bird seed blown out of the Tree feeder the other day when winds were very high, school bus passes rumble img on, makes me think of my school days. The crop duster buzzing the field hopping over electrical lines then dusting , hearing the roar of the engine power up to make another pass . Boy this porch is the center of my world. Nitecap and coffee never no better.

Conversation, listening to music, reading, thinking, watching a good movie, drinking and meditating are all activities I enjoy while smoking.
PS There are a few others, most notable being "energy puffs" while walking.😁

Oh I meant to add other online activities besides reading (I read offline & online) let's see auctions, occasionally purchasing, posting, surfing, researching, looking for other opportunities to take OVER THE WORLD!!!! etc.

Puffing while reading Puffing at the range (but not while actually shooting) Puffing while cleaning aforementioned guns Puffing while fishing Puffing while waking Lonnie-Dog Puffing while watching TV Puffing while working from home
...actually, it might be easier to list the things that I do where I prefer not to smoke.

I combine the two activities of pipe smoking and lounging about the house. They go together so well for me.

Every day, get up, put coffee on, rub out two bowls of OGS , load up two pipes, light one and I'm off for my 7/8 bowl day. I smoke while on the 'puter, fixing food, laundry etc. My pipe smoking is not a hobby, it's part of my daily life.

Reading, writing, scrolling through the patch. Mostly sitting and thinking, I try and keep it to a minimum. As any more, I feel like I smoke to fast and don't really enjoy the bowl.

Much enjoyment smoking a bowl while sitting in my well chewed recliner watching TV, usually a documentary such as NOVA, Frontline, the news or an old movie. There is a very good reason why Bloodhounds are seldom kept inside a house and my furniture shows it.

I pair cabin fever kids with getting mad.
Seriously, though, I smoke my pipes in my garage, while either making pipes, or streaming something on my computer. And, most other stuff people have mentioned.

I try to have as little activity as possible...that comes from old age and retired...usually can be found on the front porch sitting in my comfortable chair smoking and reading, smoking and looking out into the yard at the squirrels, birds and wandering cats...sometimes I'm just staring into space...like ol Ed...just glad to be alive.

I have found that, while I like the thought of reading and a pipe, I much prefer to concentrate on the pipe itself. The book gets in the way of the experience, for me.
The only thing I like to pair with a pipe is another person to talk to.

...while reading, writing, listening to music, and simply reflection of things in the past/present/future...enjoy coffee, tea, and libation as well...

I zone out a lot when I'm sitting and smoking. I get lost in my own thoughts.
I've sat with Walt smoking in his shed and realized 20 minutes had passed and both of us were just looking out into his yard. I'm not complaining by any means. It was one of my best pipe smoking experiences to date.
I do like to read and smoke, but sometimes I get lost in what I'm reading and forget I'm smoking. Same with working in the shed.
Now that I'm realizing this, I see that most of the time when I'm smoking a pipe it takes me to a completely different place, or that I'm lost?
A pipe in my car on backroads with LOUD music is my favorite place to be.
Back on topic... smoking and being lost somewhere else is apparently my pair
