Even though I've been smoking a pipe for 45 years, most of mine are estates. Yours?

Mine are about 50/50, if corn cob pipes are counted. I always buy the cobs unsmoked. I like to resurrect briar pipes. Also enjoy buying new briar from individual carvers.

most of mine are Estates. I'm not counting the cobs from the MM grab bags.

Mostly new with some Italian and English estates tossed in the mix.

Mostly estates, and just a few new pipes in my modest collection.
Not being very PAD-ish, I almost never buy a pipe on impulse. Any pipe I buy, especially a new, high-priced pipe, has to groin-kick me before I shell out the dead presidents.
And the bottom line.....after convincing myself that the last pipe that I bought was my absolutely favorite pipe in my whole collection, I eventually, slowly, step-by-step, return to, and continue to smoke, the same old 2-3 pipes that I bought years ago. Go figure...? I stay loyal to my old briar friends.

Inherited mine, too. Supplemented by a few more estates and cobs. Only recently got my first new briars, from the P&C Stanwell sale, but haven't smoked them yet.

Most of mine were bought new and are now "aged". Maybe six estate pipes. The prices for estate pipes have risen so, not much of a bargain anymore.

I monitor SP Estates and have observed that prices have increased noticeably in the last year. Price bumps also seem to occur on the heels of big % off sales.

One word (is this an actual word?); eBay. Be educated, examine carefully, bid low.

Except for one Eltang and an S. Bang, all my pipes are new. That's the way I like it.

I have a few new pipes, but most of mine are estate pipes. Having two kids in college limits my funds considerably and I find it hard to spend any significant money on pipes. I try to find bargains on estate pipes on ebay and restore them. Although I have not bid on the higher priced, more desirable pipes, I have found some very good smokers in the $10-$20 range and have restored them and am happy with the results. Of course, I really don't need any more pipes, but I certainly want more.

After giving up pipe smoking four years ago I sold off about 90 pipes. I had mid to low end pipes: Mastro de Paja, Savinelli, Peterson, Pipa Crocci, Stanwell, Nording, Rossi, Falcon, Ben Wade et al. Coming back to the hobby starting at ground zero I was content with all cobs. Didn't feel the need for anything else until PAD kicked in...but I made a decision to stay in the "Cheap Pipe" low end pool just to see if I could be happy. I have been more than pleased to find that Morgan Bones, Dr. Grabows, Mr. Brogs and Cobs occupy 95% of my rotation and 90% were purchased new. I was gifted a couple of estate Peterson's, block meerschaum and assorted basket pipes & purchased a few estate Grabows on ebay. I guess function over form works for me. Just my little experiment. I spend recklessly on good tobacco though...Go figure.

Most of mine are estate pipes but I do occasionally buy new pipes, so I guess around 50% for each.
