What music do you most often listen to while smoking a pipe?
Curiously, as I get older, I find myself listening to music less often, preferring silence or the sounds of nature if out-of-doors.
In the past, Jethro Tull and classical were my go-to music.
Yours?

I often do not listen to music (and listen to the rain, etc. outdoors), but when I do listen, it will be some "lounge music". (i.e. Slacker radio's Lounge music station).

it varies from classical all the way to death metal, punk rock, 1960s reggae, American Oi!, bluegrass, and folk like Leonard Cohen. I love me some Leonard Cohen!

Outside of the newer pop, country and rap, I listen to most everything. Funk, Jazz and Afro-Cuban influences are always welcome.

...too many to mention...but certainly Tull, Alan Parsons, Arkenstone, all classical, etc...absolutely no punk, rap, hip hop, and no "growling music" etc.

I like a wide variety of music and also spoken content while smoking indoors. Outside, the sounds of life and nature are my preference. Best of all is the sound of a nice fire.

I don't listen to music much at all but if I hear old country I'll turn it up...and I've been caught listening to some of the country by Kid Rock lately.. Not bad at all.

I used to listen to music a lot, but now suffer from tinnitus which affects the way I hear music to some degree. However when I do listen to music I mostly listen to classical music of all sorts, or maybe something like Leonard Cohen, Laurie Anderson or Tom Waits.

I suffer some tinnitus. I think the metal in my neck catches radio waves and sends them to my ears. For general mood I will listen to Archies and Monkees. For Pipe Smokery: Kitaro Moody Blues Debussy Gershwin Buedi Siebert (Kitaro-esque) Sort of a genre on its own is from Master and Commander - Several CD's based on the music from the movie Christmas Music - all year - Donna Summer, Andy Williams, Davy Jones (all passed in 2012), Sinatra, and more Frank Sinatra Charlie Parker Dexter Gordon Oscar Peterson

I pretty much can enjoy anything but rap, hip hop, most modern "country" (that is a faint shell of the real thing), Justin Beiber-bubble gum bs. Go to music, desert island music is the artists that seemed really "tight" in their recordings that preceded the digital age to my ears...Moody blues, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Steely Dan, etc....I have been revisiting a lot of the 1980's country, Earl Thomas Conley, john Conlee, Conway Twitty, Dan Seals, etc... I ran into this post on Alan Parson's Facebook page a few days ago about his re-release of "eye in the sky". www.facebook.com/alanparsons/videos/10156132977572958/

Can't remember when Dwight Yoakum came along but he great too. I would think punk and metal would cause severe tongue bite and teeth marks. Right now, can't escape 50-60's jazz..water from a very deep well.

Modern Country has a few goodies: Seminole Wind is one I heard over and over and play quite often

I used to listen to music all the time, both in my truck and at home; but now I don't listen to very much music anymore. I'm either enjoying silence or listening to informative podcasts or educational courses (The Great Courses). But, every Saturday night I listen to the WUOT radio online several musical shows: A Prairie Home Companion (now called "Live from Here"), The Thistle and the Shamrock, and Mountain Jubilee. If I am working, reading or studying, the only kinds of music that I listen to are Classical and New Age.

Drawn to Canadians for some reason; Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot.
Everybody in The Band was Canadian except for Levon Helm.
