Greetings gentlepeople, I have smoked the same pipe ( Medico), and tobacco ( Troost and occasional Clan) with the odd cigar ( tiny Hamlet or Cafe Creme) in my pubs after the "salt mines" in the evening for decades. Then I gave up pubs and found herbal smoking mixes ( nicotine free and legal) such as Farmers Honeyblend and Earth Impact, with corncob pipes, but they taxed them and the price shot up over 300%. So I found the pipe hobby world online, and have got a small collection of fine pipes, and have sampled a variety of new blends, and found some regular favourites. I normally enjoy a bowl some late evenings with a long slow sipping nightcap of my various spirits, An old guys treat. I have to confess I enjoy a vape of menthol to clear the lungs in the morning (no nicotine) and a few vapes of aperitif before and after meals (no nicotine) . Life has some contentment at times with my little hobbies and a few old friends and family and my dog Pop and pets. I whittle wood to relax while listening to music or audiobooks and stuff, and have recently ordered some African Olivewood to whittle a bowl and stem by hand with my flexcut Jack knife ( I have a lathe but it is noisy so I do not bother, and some Dremel tools and machines) i look forward to meeting new friends and faces and learning some of your pipe lore and smoke some rings with you all . PS . I am a devout Christian but I will keep my spiritual life to myself out of respect for the rules,

Stan, Welcome.
In the future (not that you will need to say hello again) posting in one Welcome thread is more than sufficient. Thanks for the enthusiasm though.

Welcome Stan. They taxed the begeezus out of herbals in the UK, huh? Weird. They seem to be taxing anything that even remotely looks like a tobacco product over in the UK.

Treated like social "lepers" , and as you say my Earth impact , for example, shot up over 300% . But I make my own good Christian herbal teas and smokes a little, not the "Devils" weed though, that is a step too far. But always busy Jamie , if I may call you so, I have not been to the Windy City, but a a Great Great Uncle (I think ) lived there, and invited my Dad over after the War, but it was not to be, I have been to the USA once for a family Wedding., nice virtual " puffing" with you.
