Sat in the yard this morning watching the series "Mad Men" and smoking a cob and just couldn't seem to be able to get enough. filled the bowl five times before I made myself go in the house and now I'm craving yet another bowl. Feast or famine..today must be a feast day!

Lol ... lung biscuits. That's what we call them in the lab. A speedy recovery to you, Charlie!

No shortage this year but thanks for the offer!
Containers of poop that look like egg drop soup also seem common.
Tons of swabs with strange, gooey globs ... ok that's enough. Lol

I don't know what I will do when this mood hits me during the 120 degree summers. Drive around in the van with the air cranking I guess.

It wouldn't take a lot of modification to make it into a post rehab tool.

My nebulizer is an antique that I inherited from my MIL. Big beige plastic box, probably from the early 70's. It sure was handy when I had the flu. As for the OP, I have days when I just want to smoke one bowl after another, then I go for a week without having a bowl.

I just finished binging my way through that show a week ago. Good show. I watched it more for the cool period swag than the story. I despised the main character- Draper was a toolbag. I have a hard time respecting characters that make no effort to remain faithful. I hated Tony Soprano too. haha

Too many series hook you in starting out great and at some point they think that they have to titillate the audience.... just show the actors walk into a bedroom and close the door, I can figure it out from there.

Hospital Lab? That was one of my careers. Been at it for almost 25 years now. I've always maintained my generalist skills but currently am the blood bank supervisor. I was trained at all the sections of the hospital lab, too. School closed down due to being in a once rich but now poor area. Did a lot of Bacti. Forty years ago, several careers ago, too. Long but wonderful life. I did a lot of blood typing and matching. Unlike big hospitals we may have run blood types a couple times a day. I mentioned to Lady Margaret that she reminded me of one boss I had. It was at one of the hospitals that this boss worked at, may she RIP. Could not have asked to work for a better person. Taught me about the Bible, but could be as ribald as they come sitting around a circle smoking her pipe

Probably still making up some of your own reagents and using a spectrophotometer in those days. Good times! Bacti is a great section if you've got the stomach for it. Opening a jar of anaerobes at 0600 isn't for everyone. Lol

Opening a jar of anaerobes at 0600 isn't for everyone. Lol Yeah, quite the little chemist sometimes. Spectrophotometer doesn't pass the spell test anymore. Learned on a Leitz Colorimeter. Always used to ask that stupid Seventies Question, where were you when the Leitz went out. As to bacti, I could sniff Pseudomonas all day, but the smell of an autoclave killed me. For those who don't know, Pseudomonas a. smelled like grape wine

My buddy is a homicide detective he has come across some pretty nasty decomposures...
I would imagine that a lot of stuff in the hospital has some pretty nasty stuff that curls the nose hairs.

My buddy is a homicide detective he has come across some pretty nasty decomposures... I would imagine that a lot of stuff in the hospital has some pretty nasty stuff that curls the nose hairs. We had a small morgue and I used to assist in autopsies, as the Path was a tiny lady. Word of advice: When pulling out intestines of someone who died with a full stomach, do not puncture. The morgue was by the back steps that the third shift housekeeping dept went through. One night one of my minions and I blew up some rubber gloves and stuck them to the drawer doors as if trying to escape. Sat back. Waited. Screams. Denials by me to the head of the hospital the next day

Haven't had to stick anyone in quite awhile but did a lot of it back in the day. It's like riding a bike and when I need to its still there. Our Phlebotomists and Lab Assistants do all the draws but I am responsible for their training in properly banding patients who may be transfused. Once or twice a week I work in the main lab running either the Chemistry or Hematology department to keep up the skills.

well, this thread to a odd and unexpected turn! Have a great Sunday everyone! Lol ... pipers tend to ramble. That's great, Mike ... frustrating at times but needed and in short supply. Many labs these days are running lean at around 110% efficiency.

Mad Men titillated from the beginning. Provocative being a better word. And if one felt it glamorized infidelity, it certainly didn't white-wash the aftermath.

Used to be up on the floor at 6am drawing blood at the small town hospital I worked in. Hematology and Parasit are up there with Bacti as "were" my main interests. I am able to keep my doctors honest when they try to put their spin on my personal lab tests today
