Without meaning to be morbid, some of us (myself included) may not expect to be around much longer.
Where are your pipes and tobaccos going? Have you left advice/instructions with your significant other? Included in your will? Children? Don't care?
Sincerely interested in your replies with regard to my own decisions.

I keep an Excel worksheet that has all of my pipes and tobaccos and what I paid for them. My girlfriend and brother know about the file and it is mentioned in my will. In the meantime, I am gradually selling some of my pipes and tobaccos on Ebay and at pipe shows.

Fill them all up with my favorite tobacco and burn em up with me when cremated for one big "Final Smoke".

My wife will take them to the local pipe show and give it all away.

I thought about this, also. Here's what I think, since you asked.... I have no children, and none of my friends smoke pipes. If I kick tomorrow, my pipes along with almost everything else I own, clothes, shoes, books, etc. will get dumped. Anything that's "valuable" or worth keeping-(other than jewelry, and/or for sentimental reasons?)- might be kept, but after a respectable amount of time, that too will get dumped. There's a show on TV called "American Pickers". I watch it for laughs. Two guys travel around, all over the USA, looking/searching for "vintage" items, for restorations and resale. Old fashioned gas pumps, old signage, old cars, dolls, toys, electric trains, etc. They comb through the backwoods, looking for these "treasures" in rural areas, and spend most of their time rummaging around in old, flea-bitten barns, sheds, storage dumps, etc. All the shrewd owners of this crap think that their vintage stuff is worth a fortune! In reality, garbage is just garbage and it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Bet when these old coots die, their family will call in trash removal services, or, sell it off by the ton, just to quickly get rid of it, and to get it off the property. Now, that I have become a man-of-a-certain-age, I say enjoy your pipes, and tobaccos. Make some fumes! Smoke your tobaccos, now! Set off the smoke-detectors! Forget about aging some rare blends for 10-15 years! Don't let moderation become a habit. Your collection should be enjoyed by you. If you can, while you can, share your private stash with other birds-of-a-feather. Divest, give it away to those that will appreciate it. Keep some favorite pipes around for your personal use, and give the rest to selected friends and family members and tell them why they were selected as the new owners. Donate some pipes to retailers who specialize in estate pipes. A new owner of one of your briars will think about the former owner (you) and enjoy the pipe as you are enjoying it's virtues. Sell them off on pipe forums. Forum members, who know who you are, will want a piece of you.... It's not morbid. No one wants to be forgotten... but in 50 years, will anyone know who we were? Enjoy it all now, my friend...summus fumus (we are but smoke). Frank NYC

I got my nephew a plastic water bubble pipe. We'll see what happens in 20 years.

My son will get most if not all of my cellar. My wife will probably sell off most of my pipes, except a few that my son has claimed.I will be a pile of ash in the back yard so it wont matter to me.The only thing I've definately decided is that I don't want any kind of service.Remember me by lighting up.

Jeeeeeze...
I guess my brother gets it all, but he is not really a true Piper. I'll be honest, I've given this a little thought and I hope to spend a few years on the forum and make a couple pals that would appreciate receiving my hoard. The sad part is that I'm not sure who will be left in the future. I'm one of the young ones and I'm 35.
Eventually all our lives will just equate to junk on a stranger's shelf.

All the best tins will be in the cryo-freezer with me. I'll be smoking 500 year old blends when they thaw me out.

I have a book of contact info for hubby. No one in my family is a piper, so basically he is to split whatever I have between my local pipe club and this group.
