A few years ago, mine went out, since the house came with the GE profile line I replaced it with one that is that line. It has been a real dog, no matter what type of soap you use, the latches get gummed up and the product doesn’t release.
I am looking for a quiet dependable one, with the mindset of you get what you pay for, but there is usually a point of diminishing returns. I haven’t found consumer reports all that dependable in the past, so I don’t want to subscribe.
If you are happy with a unit you have bought within the last couple of years, I am all ears.

Charlie, I replaced Blondies dishwasher a couple of years back. Our house also came with the GE Profile line, all black. As luck would have it I found a floor model for sale at our local Sears Catalog store (small place in a strip mall) It was originally a $900 unit that I picked up for $300ish installed. I'm all about the bargain. Although it's not a GE, it is black, with the buttons and controls all concealed in the top of the door, visible when you open the washer. It's super quiet and works great. Very similar to this one, in a black finish.... www.sears.com/kenmore-elite-24inch-built-in-dishwasher-stainless-steel/p-02214793000P#Imagezoom

Problems could be installation and plumbing related as well. Drainage hookup under your kitchen sink sounds like a possible candidate based on description of problem. 1 1/4” tubular drain lines were invented to keep plumbers employed.

We are on our second Bosch. Never any problems.

Never had any drainage issues, 75% of my problems are related to soap dispenser issues, not opening, partially opening, etc...

I have heard generally good things about Bosch dishwashers... I think that the guy that sold me my GE had said something at the time.
At the local sears outlet, I don’t know how much latitude the manager has in discounting, but at my local store you don’t see that deep of a discount unless there is a gash in the front... we will check them out though, a few Kenmore’s ranked in the top 10 in a non ad driven website.

I believe that Lowes and Home Depot also carry them.

Affirmative. You may consider contacting GE. They may surprise you, actually be part of the solution.

I bought a new scrub brush and green pads. Does that count?

Ww had a Bosch in our last house with the fancy kitchen. We recently bought a Westinghouse when our mobile home washer went out and they installed a Bosch by mistake. It was great. Worked perfectly and you couldn't tell if it was running or not. Wife and I had a bad feeling about it for some reason. Best Buy wanted us to keep it but we made them put in the Westinghouse. They thought we were crazy, and they are probably right. We are satisfied though. If I was going to spend more than $600 on a dishwasher, I would buy the Bosch. The Sears stuff has always been great, but with them about to fold, they don't have the incentive to keep up the quality.

We had a dishwasher in our apartment that wound up being just a rack. Prob with them is if you only use a couple items a day it's hardly worth turning it on. Since we didn't it eventually leaked all over the place. I grew up doing dishes with a DW and then as an adult I did them without. Our house, 23 years, has never had one. No disposal either. No repairs either.

I believe that Lowes and Home Depot also carry them. Pickings are really slim on appliances at HD, Lowes has a much better selection, but there really isn't anything to go on for what I am looking at. Out of warranty, they typically want to send a $150.00 monkey with a wrench...if he came, the solution would be to put in an $80.00 soap dispenser door that would dump the soap right back in the same mechanical workings....time to cut my losses on this turkey. On a sidenote... I have a GE Microwave that still works great, but the door handle broke off, the only way to replace it is buy a $95 handle only available through them...that too was a production defect, because my first one broke in exactly the same manner, my second one was free from my neighbor that has a wife that wanted a convection combo, so we purposely went easy on the handle.
