Small blurb on remembering Craig Tarler.
Never met the man in person, but was just now thinking about the first phone conversation over my first order, back in the old days.
Over an hour. Sweet guy. Miss him.

we visited their operation in '06 after spending time with family in Dunn, NC. Took the tour, (when at Morgantown). Saw the emu birds on way in.
Highlight by far, after finishing the tour, sat on the inside picnic table with Craig & peeing our pants laffing at his insane xxx-rated rants about the baccy tax situation, Givment in general. Patty sure no wall flower either...she'd come outa the office & could paint the air as good as anbody with purple prose. The Tarlers sure will be missed (possibly Patty still alive)
Thanx for that awesome memories of the Tarlers.

I got in the real time hobby as C&D was starting up. I was never a fan of their tobacco but I knew Craig, Patty and their crew from dozens of pipe shows over the years. They were always popular and friendly. It's sad what has happened to this proud family run operation.

Craig really was a legend in the community. Taking a small tobacco operation that fit in the back of their van and turning it into probably the first large scale hand blended operation. I had the pleasure of speaking with him on the phone a few times. No nonsense guy with a heart of gold.
