The aroma is fine and to my taste in the tin. My first puffs are pleasant and agreeable, more anon. In my little Hardcastle ( do not have a Dunhill, yet) with some stout.

I don´t know, I have tried several Dunhill tobaccos but usually they simply have too much Vitamin N for me.

I have saw posts where people said Nightcap sent them spinning from a nic-hit. I laughed them off (in my heart) as lightweight smokers. Then one night, I found myself in the back yard dry heaving from the nic-hit. My son cruelly said that had the medicine man looked out of the tent to give a tribal name to a papoose and saw me, the poor kid would have been named puking dog.
Nightcap is a wonderful smoke, I consider it the quintessential English blend. I also like 965 and Early Morning and have a couple pounds of each.

Stout is a great beverage with Nightcap ... glad you enjoyed it! Oh, by the way, Vitamin N = Nicotine

Thanks , I am not well read in the smokers arts, science or slang, but I have The Ultimate Pipe Book on the go for the first time I am a light smoker a creature of habit , If I over indulge or smoke at a time I am not used to I get a toxic reaction. So I limit it to the late evening generally.. With one cup of my favourite sipping spirits, or a stout if I am off colour.

Nightcap is a good one. First English blend I ever managed to enjoy. Plenty of nicotine, thats for sure, slow with coffee works for me.

Most of my limited taste of good tobacco's are what Americans call English blend, and nightcap complements my squadron leader, in a way a cafetière of ground Italian coffee at home, after a family Sunday dinner and evening tea, and you are relaxed and at peace with the world, but need a strong puff to stiffen yourself for the work week ahead, and there is nightcap in your best home briar Biliards pipe (Parker). But complemented by a flask of the best instant coffee granules in the field at camp after a hard hike through the hills and valleys and your tired and weary and the campfire and the smoke and wind and night chill distract you to the sight of a clear starry night sky, so you light up your pear Royal outdoor pipe (Ukrainian) and puff on your squadron leader and all is clear and well with the world. Take care folks. ;-)

Sorry for the forum slang! I prefer anthing with loads of Latakia in it but I enjoy a sweet Virginia every now and then too. On the other hand a nicotene-rich tobacco is a no-no for me.

Oh well, never could handle the Lady N very much. Gave me a hard time back in the day when we were smoking "that other tobacco" too. BTW, your link is 404....

I mix my strong tobacco with mild tobacco if it disagrees with me but an honourable Christian herbalist may help. But I mix good hard Pharma , with good soft Herbals, for the saints.

Well Stan all I can say is to find a good smoking pipe and a tobac you enjoy. Some time try Peter Stokkeby's Luxury Twisted Flake. Good Smoke and not to high in Nic.

Thanks JohnR, I am content at times to take a bowl and mix at a time, and enjoy the smoke whether I like it or not, but I will look into the tip, Peter Stokkeby is a new one,

my affinity for Nightcap comes and goes. I'm currently enraptured with it again. I've only ever had the Scandinavian incarnations, and it seems the Dunhill blends I've tried all have that astringentish quality. After a while, I get tired of it and move on, but then after a few months, I long for it again and dive headlong in.
I have about 4 quart jars cellared still from a bulk buy a couple years ago, I think it improves a little with age.
The whole Vitamin-N thing I've yet to really experience. Maybe it's the head spinning nauseating feeling I get when I smoke C&D blends (and pease blends). I just cant tolerate their tobaccos for whatever reason.

Nice can on that gun, if you have to take care of a nightime problem, the kids don't get woken up..... I am hoping that the hearing protection act passes for us gun owners.
