Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia live '80. Paco was just from another world! glassjapan Thanks for posting this video. Great to see the late Bill Graham doing his introduction of the artist. That man did a lot for musicians with the old Fillmore East/West, and Winterland venues. This was two plus hours of pure enjoyment while I was cooking this afternoon This is a great thread!

Played upright bass with Paul Mehling (Hot Club of San Francisco, Le Jazz Hot) in his band in high school... we called ourselves "Evenin's Breeze".

I played them so many times, I'm sure I wore new grooves in the vinyl

...might have been more appropriate to my other band, styled after "Cream", called "Badge"... Nah. Govt Cheese was nasty punk hardcore. DK meets TSOL with me crooning like Danzig. haha
My most recent group of friends Phantom Wolves could have at least hung with you guys. haha Definitely had a little bit of a Cream vibe going- Though we are rough and simple by comparison; all of us self-taught. We could jam though. Intuition was something we had in spades.
We used to go up the street and hit the bars in what used to be the hip, 'starving artist' part of town back before old man gentrification waved his magic checkbook at it... We'd take in a show or open mic night and sometimes bring a musician or two back with us. Sometimes entire other bands. We'd jam well into the next day. God I miss that place. First floor was just a huge empty room the size of a barn and stripped down to bare wood all around. That along with a nice carpet of cigarette butts worked acoustic miracles. The wood of the walls thrumming with warm tube watts. Upstairs was a misleadingly posh 3 bedroom apartment. Location was the best part. It was in an industrial/warehouse type district with no neighbors. Man. Six years ago already... Hahaha Tell me I don't have attention deficit disorder..
Have any Badge tunes up on youtube or bandcamp?

Made me think of this photo. My friend Jeff playing our first house drum set. Also Ludwig! Not sure if I'm playing my 2010 Standard Explorer or if it's my 80s Korina Explorer. I love that model because it's size doesn't make me look like an ogre with a uke. haha

Knew Jaco when he was having mental issues and living on the street in the Village in NYC. His music was sublime, though...
