Mine are in no particular order, and it was hard to stick to five: Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, the original Captain Marvel by C.C. Beck, and Captain America.

In terms of the character's potential i.e. what I see in the character: Mister Miracle, El Diablo (the Gerard Jones version), Skull & Bones, Andy Helfer's The Shadow, a tie between Adam Strange and Space Cabbie. In terms of 'as they've been written', my favorites are: George Perez' Wonder Woman, Stern's Starman, Several people's Batman, Several people's Superman, and Kanigher's Enemy Ace. Non-DC I'd go with Galactus in terms of potential and Barks' Scrooge McDuck in terms of 'as they've been written'

Blue Beetle, Superboy, Green Arrow, The Shadow, Doc Savage
Since it's a group, it doesn't apply, but my all time fave comic would be anything Legion of Super-Heroes

Concrete, Groo the Wanderer, Marv from Sin City, Magik and Rorshach. A few are anti-heroes, but this is my list!

5 for me is a short list, but: Batman Superman Captain America Avengers (one and all) Spiderman
Animal Man Sub-mariner Sgt. Rock
...always been partial to the DC storylines, artwork, and characters.
Please don't get me started... I still have a whole room of the house devoted to my 100k+ count... autographed comics, cards, collectables, etc... just can't give em up (and I've had some generous offers).

Since you asked, I started out with DC comics:
Batman, Blackhawks, Gunner and Sarge.
Then came Marvel and the comic book world was forever changed. I had all the original Spiderman, FF, Iron Man, Daredevil and, of course, Sgt Rock and his Howling Commandos. Marvel was brilliant for the time.

I only ever read one comic with regularity. This guy was the hero. That said, I have enjoyed some characters from various superhero movies. I like Iron Man, The Hulk and Beast.

I saw a picture somewhere of Bruce Wayne smoking a pipe.
I don't think smoking featured in the plot, it was just an easy way to show a typical man "off duty".

My favorites are:
The Sub-Mariner, The Thing (Fantastic Four), Spider-Man, Captain Marvel (the Marvel character in his original green and white Kree uniform), and Captain America.
I'm a Marvel fan all the way. A number of years ago, I commissioned Sal Buscema to do an original pen & ink drawing of the 1968 versions of the Sub-Mariner and Captain Marvel battling it out. I still need to get it matted and framed.

I’ve done allot of reading in my life, but what you might not believe is....I have never read a comic book. I guess that might be attributed to not reading fictional books or even watch TV shows or movies that are leaning more towards SiFi. Might be due to the fact that I’m more of a realist. I’ve often wondered if I’m odd??? Maybe it was the way I was brought up, all three of my siblings to the best of my knowledge never read comic books, and never have when we were growing up. Also, my Mom and Dad were avid readers but they too never read comic books. Growing up during my era the TV show Superman was very popular, but I knew at a young age humans can’t fly. Therefore I never watched Superman like other children my age. So, am I missing out on something special???

So, am I odd or missing something special??? Not odd, just missing something special. When it comes to being odd, who sets the standard for normal?
