This next pipe was an unplanned impulse purchase in mid-December simply because this pipe that was made 18 years ago was obviously made with me in mind. Tom Cristiano isn't as well known today since his untimely passing about a dozen years ago. His Italian made Calabresi and T. Cristiano pipes are high quality, good smoking pipes. To mark the turning of the century and millenium in 2,000, Tom introduced a limited edition series of 200 pipes called Millenium with each pipe individually numbered (The marketing said 200 pipes, but I have seen up through #204.). I am quite impressed that he found the number of quality big blocks which were needed to make these large plateaux pipes all with the same shape. There is a US quarter in one of the pictures below to help give scale on the size of this series of pipes. The bowl on mine measures 0.95" diameter and 2.05" deep. When Tom Cristiano passed away, Paul's Pipe Shop bought most of the inventory from Tom's warehouse (10,000 pipes). As a result, I've seen quite of few Millenium pipes and have always had one on my dream list. I was behind the counter at Paul's helping someone look at pipes when one of the Milleniums in a case happened to catch my eye. When I picked it up and turned it over, I realized that the pipe was meant to be mine. When you look at the spot rustication patterns, remember that my initials are JL...

Great looking pipe John. 2 1/2 hours? Wow. I have a couple J.M. Boswell pipes which include similar exterior etchings. Cool style.
