What are some of you guys favorite tobacco and whisk(e)y combinations? Do you prefer certain blends with certain whisk(e)ys? Or do you avoid the combination all together? Let's discuss.

I'm not the biggest proponent of whisky on this site but I have tried pairing Ballentine's with Luxury Twist Flake. To my palate, the alcoholic tang of the whisky overpowered the tobacco making it pointless in terms of flavor. For what it's worth, beer and tobacco also doesn't work for me. I've been meaning to try brandy and a pipe.

Scotch, bourbon or whiskey with a Latakia or DFK blend is nice. Wine or beer with a Virginia is good. Strong black coffee goes with Burley forward blends. Nothing in stone and anything goes, however!

I'm not a bourbon or whiskey drinker anymore, however, I do enjoy a good scotch every now and then with a fine cigar. I mostly smoke burley blends now and always enjoy them with a good cup of black coffee.

The only day of the year I normally drink bourbon anymore is the first Saturday in May when Derby is run. It's usually Woodford Reserve and my preferred tobacco with it is red Virginia. I do find Guinness Stout, Lats and meers tough to beat on winter nights in front of a fire.

Often have a single malt, either Laphroig (the king of single malts) or GlenDronach with my latakia blends. After all, peaty single malts are liquid latakia. I do however, also like a Cognac quite often. Glass of Port is nice also. Been known to have a good red wine alongside as well. I am easily satisfied with the best hooch (apologies to the memory of Winston Churchill).

I don't drink during the day, which is when I usually smoke, so rarely pair whisky with a pipe. When I have it's been pretty random, and nothing stands out. But I have found that red wine goes unusually well with lat blends.

Ah Laphroaig, the bottled smoke of the whisk(e)y world, all kidding aside it is a great whisk(e)y I haven't tried it with a latakia though, I kind of assumed it would be a little much.

It is interesting to see the opinions on here. I find that whisk(e)y and pipes while they may seem like a great combination often end up taking away from each other in terms of flavor. Personally, whenever I smoke a pipe and want a whisk(e)y I drink something like Powers Irish. While it has a nice flavor it isn't a whiskey that is overly complicated so it goes well with anything.

Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort with... anything. Wait, is Southern Comfort a whisky or an orange liqueur used as a chaser to whisky? It's no longer easy to find down here.

I appreciate fine liquor and I get in on some of the better single malt$$$ at shows but at the rate I enjoy it at home I stick with Dewers on the rocks.

Laphroaig with Bothy Flake, there is no substitute. Well, maybe something with Latakia in it... I do like some cream sherry with Virginias and Vapers though.

I do believe they even classify themselves as liqueur if I'm not mistaken. Though I have to disagree on the bourbon thing, it does not have to come from the Bluegrass State to be bourbon just our fine country and 51% corn in the mashbill.

I thought bourbon was a denomination of origen tied to Bourbon County, KT.

I thought bourbon was a denomination of origen tied to Bourbon County, KT. It's a common misconception. I didn't know about it until I started watching the whiskey vault on youtube.
