Papa Murphy’s for me, I used to deliver their products, all made from fresh ingredients, and I have never had any problems with consistency or skimping on ingredients. They are based in Marin county, and they have a pretty solid presence with a distribution base throughout California and Arizona so, that probably has a lot to do with it.

I drove for Papa Johns on 2 runs in between jobs.. crappiest job ever.
I don’t know if it makes any difference or not, but their dough is made at the distribution center and not at the stores, each store I believe gets 2 deliveries per week.

Papa John’s was started right here in Louisville MSA. I think the first store was actually across the river in New Albany, IN in pretty much a broom closet. Founder’s shack here includes a mote. Backyard used to be a full three hole golf course. PVA appraised it as one of the most expensive in Jefferson County some years ago. I have to give him credit. I don’t have a clue how he established a global empire based on the crappiest pizza in one sleepy little river town. Pure guenious that one.

Whenever you see a chain restaurant delivered in a sleeper rig with two guys....that truck starts up at the distribution center, and shuts off when it gets back. theoretically the way it should work to be legal, In practice, it really doesn't work with overlapping shift times and inability to sleep while the other guy is working...they way it works out, it is never really legal, but it is easy to fudge the numbers...unless there was an onboard videocam inside the truck.
Truly a job I hated on day one, that is why I quit after the second run...the sad thing is, people are willing to do it.

@10furlongs Yeah, there ads here say it was founded in a closet in his dad's bar. I'm not saying its the greatest ever but I'm satisfied with the quality of Papa John's pizza. That their dough isn't made fresh on site does irk me some though. I get the need for standardizing industrial processes but still.

for a I can't stand franchise pizza. I guess maybe Pizza Hut..? They have better deals and their wings are vastly superior to those rubbery half-cooked earlobes they call wings at Dominoe's haha Honestly, even if I were in the middle of nowhere, I'd put my shoes on and leave the hotel for McDonald's if franchise pizza is the only delivery option. For a local "chain" pizza that rocks .. try Montecello's pizza.. I used to deliver food items to their restaurants and main kitchen..SUPER high quality ingredients .. those restaurants had coolers that smelled wonderful, made my hungry when I delivered there.. not many places ever did that! I'm looking at their Yelp page and the pizza looks great although their fries look just the greasiest. I'll have to try them if I'm ever near Pittsburgh.

Sorry, I like pizza too much to order it from a chain. That stuff is pizza in name only. Better to never eat it again than to eat that junk.
Lots of great real pizza to be had in LA, fresh hand tossed dough, proper cornmeal, good freshly made sauce, real cheeses, top quality toppings, fired in a brick oven. Heading over to Casa Bianca this evening to pick up a couple for friends.
East Bay has Zachary's, and that is really great pizza.

Admittedly, I like mom and pop pizza restaurants far better, if I am going out for pizza it is never a nationwide chain. I practically get a gut-ache looking at commercials where they roll rope cheese into the crust edge, and the pan pizza crust is ridiculously thick.

@chico you don't hold it against Little Caesers that Mike Ilitch failed to win a world series with the Tigers? Is that tennis or polo? (not much of a sports fan).

I honestly cannot remember the last time I ate a chain pizza. I have a local place that delivers great Neapolitan style pizza. It even arrives nice and hot. Now I am hungry and need to order some pizza.

Definitely Pizza Hut for me; love their pizza. The reason why is that they are well-balanced and seasoned just right. They also make use of the whole pie, instead of leaving 1.5 inches of crust around the edges like some of their competition does.

Here the cheese filled crust and sasauge filled crust are very popular at Pizza Hut but I also prefer their regular crust with sauce and cheese right at the edge.

North Beach is almost always a stop when I'm in the the City. Truly great pizza! I usually just go in to buy a slice or two, not a whole pie.

Especially not wrestling or boxing! I used to like baseball when I was a kid, and I did have fun a couple of years ago going to see the Albuquerque Isotopes when a Brit friend was in town. What can I say - I'm a weirdo and have weird friends.

If you could only eat pizza from one national chain the rest of your life which would you choose and why? I'd choose Papa John's if they promise to add extra sauce everytime and keep their MXN 99 deal. Does this answer your question? Attachments:

Our local Pizza Hut is not the greatest, they all hate their jobs, just don't give a crap.

Back in the day, a lot of the restaurants there allowed the employees beer to combat the heat in the kitchen...Often I would hear "Hey paisano"...I don't drink beer (or not having any that day), so they would give me a beer from their allotment ..which was pretty refreshing after busting off a delivery which was often a backbreaker in them old buildings...fire up the rig and head to another Italian eatery.. .never recall getting a buzz, cause I burned it off as quick as I drank it..the good old days....Them Italians had a heart of gold one minute, but they could really snap the next, then be your best bud again...it was a real benefit to learn how to deal with people and not take things personal...they were old school for sure.

For a chain, Mr Jim's pizza is far and away the best. Mostly eat pizza from the little shop owned by the family from Brooklyn down the street. Looks like they are mostly in Texas, with one each in Las Vegas, Kenner, La, Charlotte Nc, and 2 in Wyoming. I recommend that you give them a try if there's one in your area.
