While I have *many* pipes, I am partial to the Billiard... but I have always loved the look and feel of the Cutty.
My recent Ascorti purchase is only the second one I've owned. They seem to be scarce.
What say you folks?

Like you, I am fond of the classic Billiard, a shape most often taken for granted, but with variations to the shape, if you look closely. I also like a well turned Apple, the best of which exude a quiet confidence.

By far, my favorite shape is the straight billiard.
But I also like the bulldog and Canadian.

I have an old Comoy's that I call an Apple, but the shape # is referred to as a "Globe" by Comoy's...

My absolute favorites are the old Danish Pipe Dan stacks, as many of you may have gathered from my posts . Followed by oom Paul's. And I like billiards third, then variations on eggs.

I find myself drawn more to the bent dublins, with billiards, bent or straight, coming next.

My favorite shape is the Dublin, but I also like Billiards(Lovats), Apples, and Rhodesians. If someone were to look at my collection they would definitely call me a traditionalist. I also prefer either straight pipes or ones with only and 1/8th to a 1/4 bent. I believe I only have 3 full bent pipes in my collection.

Slight bent on several shapes, Pot, Prince, Billiard, Bulldoggie. I am learning that the thinner shank-stem seems to draw better

I love shape collecting. This group of Castello shape 30's as it was a few years ago is a favorite.

Still figuring it out. I like the bulldog and dublin for flakes but short stacks and billiards for ribbon cut so far.

I have more billiards than anything, but I'm drawn to the tapered dublins and the sweep of a nice zulu. Here recently I've been eyeing hawkbills and danish style bumpy freehands along the lines of nording or preben holm. My vision of the pipes on my buy list are ever changing based on the shapes I learn of at club meetings and around here.

Dave, very cool collection. I wish Castello would use vulcanite, I would own a bunch of their Dublins and Calabash's. I just ran across some Radice's with vulcanite and they are calling me big time.

My dad smoked mostly Comoy's straight pots, and I like 'em well enough. Received wisdom is that it's the best shape for lat blends. Not sure if it's coincidence or if my dad knew that. Aesthetically, I like slightly bent pipes more, though.

sure Freehand couldn't be considered a shape, but that's my answer. Letting the carver do his/her thing with what the wood offers. If really had to go with the thread, the Ascorti Saxaphone would do. I have 3. Business, NewDear & different shape bowl, the NewLine. The latter considered quite rare.

I like the billiard shape in briar and the barrel shape in cob.

To smoke, straight billiard (on the long side) is what I prefer, but since I clinch, it's more important that the pipe be lite and the bit suits my teeth.
What is pleasing to my eye is another matter - that's all over the board!

Jesse, c'mon man, you can do better than that. I want to know your favorite shapes, that way if I see a Pre Trans Barling in that shape I will be sure to bid it to the moon.

I like apples. They have a very full shape and they feel good in the hand. All around pleasant shape.

The style and finish of a given pipe have been the reason for many purchases, so I really couldn't give a specific 'preferred' shape.

Straight Billiard, straight, diamond shank, saddle stem Bulldog, straight Apple, and plateaux Freehand. Yeah, that fourth one is a bit different than the other three. Straight Billiard takes the top spot as that’s about 25% of my smoking collection.

Dave, very cool collection. I wish Castello would use vulcanite, I would own a bunch of their Dublins and Calabash's. I just ran across some Radice's with vulcanite and they are calling me big time. In the past, you could order any Radice with a vulcanite stem. I don't know if that's still the case. One of the stocking dealers could tell you. Personally, I love their Acrylic stems.
