Very interesting history lesson, Frank. How old are those pipes? They look to be in remarkable condition.

I really like the one on the right in the second picture stvalentine. I'm assuming that one is the Universal?

Thank you guys! The ALCO was first available in 1964 (my birthyear) but I don´t know how old mine are. I hope that I can find more information about ALCO and FALCON. Too bad the book "Back from the Ashes" is only available for Kindle now. It was written by the granddaughter of Mr. Hunt.
@justin: Yes, the larger one is the Universal.

BTW, as it seems ALCO pipes are still available (at least in England).

Great-looking pipes! If only smokingmetal.co.uk made their photos as appealing... I nominate the Quiet Comrade as your next system pipe. Your PAD will thank me! www.smokingmetal.co.uk/pipe.php?page=83

Neat info. I have back from the ashes on my Kindle, I just keep getting distracted and haven't read it. Very nice looking pipes, Frank.

Thank you guys! Love the Comrade, I guess I have missed that one on smokingmetal.
I would love to read "Back from the ashes" but I don´t have a Kindle. After some annoying experience with Amazons reader I am not inclined to get one. Still hope to find the book in print one day.....

You could always download Kindle software for your computer or a smartphone, though it sounds like you may already have tried that.
The Comrade is an interesting pipe. I have one. It was the nastiest pipe I ever cleaned. The previous owner apparently never disassembled it. When the memory of the nastiness fades I will smoke it.

Thats a great tip Adam, I didn´t know that there is a possibility to read Kindle books on other platforms. I will try to wrap my head around this this weekend. Yes, the big drawback with system pipes is a previous owner who didn´t bother to take them apart for cleaning.

Very interesting! I never knew there was a link between the Falcon and Alco. My one Falcon I gave away, the Alco I kept.
