In case it's useful news to you Lovers of Frog, I found that C&D Mississippi Mud to be similar in general to the original Frog. A little more robust perhaps. Flavors similar, they're both cavendish based i believe. Of course YMMV.

Thanks, good to know. I have laid in what I believe will be a lifetime supply of FMC. And by the time it's gone, I doubt a kind of tobacco will be available.

I doubt that anything could replace the Frog, but that's good to know just in case.

I think some of the Sutliff English-aros might scratch the same itch for some, like Burma Road or Kashmir. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same Black Cav as McC.

The first Latakia blend I tried was Frog Morton. That was 20 years ago. I've been smoking Latakia ever since. I've smoked a lot of their bulk blend 2045.It's similar to Frog Morton.I'm going to miss them.

I don't think it has any toppings. Just unflavored black Cavendish. It seems to me they might toast the whole mess after it' s blended. Pretty smooth.

Well looks like that bag gets an addition. I don't do aros or other blends that have black cavendish in it.

I don't smoke Frog Morton, but I always thought it was a Virginia and Latakia blend. I don't see Cavendish listed as one of it's ingredients.

It could be dark stoved VA which seems like Black Cav when the topping is added? Come to think of it, I'm not sure what the difference is between stoved VA and Black Cav. I also noticed that FM Original doesn't mention Orientals other than Latakia, but a lot of people think they're in there.

It's just terminology ... most "Unflavored Black Cav" is Burley based. However, Stoved Virginia is also Cavendish and the term is more common in the UK and EU. I've made my own Cavendish from Red FCV and it's really sweet and tasty.

Frog Morton to me is a nice crossover blend. Along the same lines is Kramers Carey Grant which is also smooth, sweet and mild. I believe it has an Irish Mist topping.

I have seen some blend descriptions saying they make their BC out of VA instead of Burley, so basically it's just another way of saying stoved VA.

That's my understanding ... it's all based upon the Maillard Reaction. If you have a pressure cooker, you can make this at home! Red FCV: After the pressure cooker method:

I'll miss all of the iterations of Frog Morton when they're gone, but I have a lot in the cellar, and I'll bet there's enough around for a bit...

Love some Primus! Yeah, they make great backpacking stoves. What's that got to do with Frog Morton? ๐ Agreed! I have an older "universal fuel" type that's easy to tear down and keep clean. Frog who?? I'll take Balkan Blue and a few others, myself.
