I read through the thread on D&D gaming. I do have multiple editions of D&D books but haven't played in years. I do however have a bunch of board games. Two are from the 1980s. The first is Talisman and the second is Dungeonquest. I was curious if anyone remembered these games or had other fantasy games that they play. I did play Magic: The Gathering for quite a few years. That was a money pit of a game to be sure and quit because I couldn't afford it any longer. I raised my kids playing these games and although they love their video games the really enjoy a good board game because of it.

I grew up on board games. Tried to talk Xuan into playing some, but she'd rather play online games at Pogo.

I loved D&D and still hyave my old books and even some memorable characters.. I have some of my dungeons that used some rather devious traps as well.. +not to bore trying to bore the non original gamers but some of my fave traps were the hot wheel super charger columns in a hallway.. they are very tight and slin when you squeeze thru them.. then at a random moment they turn on and spin launching players super fast to then end of the hallway against a wall.. My other fave was the circular room with 15 doors.. the party enters, the door slams shut.. the floor drops 4 feet and spins throwing the party against the pit wall it then raises back up and the party has to find the correct door to get back out..each door has a nasty surprise behind it and if the wrong one is picked the floor drops again spinning ... this happens until the right door is picked
sorry to bore you non RPG folks..
I loved playing risk..squad leader.. axis and allies...
As far as magic.. I did play, I lucked into a serious deck..many wicked cards and with a few add on packs the gang I drove truck with said enough and made me get a new deck..

I know how you feel David. The only reason my kids keep board games in the mix is because I started them so young. Video games are hard to compete with.
Crapgame,it sounds like you made one heck of a DM. I love magic still but so expensive to compete in the type 2 tournaments. I went to pre-release competitions and booster competitions. I miss it but I most definitely do not have the money for magic now since my pipe hobby has grown lol.
