Why do some Kaywoodies have a number on the bottom of the stem? Does this signify anything of importance? I am looking at one that is stamped G2 and have seen others over the years with similar combos. Thanks for any info or direction.

peteguy, look on Pipephil there is a large section on Kaywoodie. From the simple surche I did I found they used a numbering system for the models.

Thanks for the advice. I have been searching the net - anything stem related is logos and anything number related is model #'s. This stamp is on the bottom of the stem not on the briar.

a combo of letter and number indicates a newer (post 70's) model. 2 and 3 digit are older Kaywoodie's. KBB are KW's before they became Kaywoodie.
