I watched an interesting video today in which the owner of McClelland discussed a unique way of securing certain types of pipe tobacco tins for storage. The method involves wrapping a tin of pipe tobacco in aluminum foil and then vacuuming sealing that tin. Has anyone tried this at home?

I remember that video by The Northern Bohemian and The Diebeticman. I was wondering around there somewhere at that show. I met Mary at the McClelland table and sampled some Balkan Blue for the first time and fell in love. I believe Mike is talking about really old tins or storing for a very long time. So far so good with me with storing in the tins and ball jars. In my opinion tins will give out before ball jars so if you are worried about a tin giving out I would just transfer to a jar and leave alone until you are ready to smoke it. Maybe try this method if you want to age for 20+ years.

There's always a whiff of tobacco (mostly lats) in my sealed tins tubs. I might go to the trouble of Mylar bagging my coin style tins. However, I feel really good about the pop top tins, even the Seattle Pipe Club tins after JimInks assuaged my worries.

You be good for long time
